1,000-3,000 Service

Should be free correct? What if I am 150 miles over the 3,000, can they charge me?

Yes, free. At my dealer, they said they would honor the 3k service up until the 5k mark.

It probably varies dealer to dealer, but 150 over shouldn't be a problem.

There is really nothing they are going to check at 1k to 3k. They probably just turn around and hand you the key back I think up to 5k should be fine. I never did mine since I figure its a waste of my time.

Update: No charge at 200 miles over the 3000. I was kinda ticked because I had just washed my car yesterday and they re-washed it today during/after the service and I see some streaking on the windows

That was in the maintenance log book I recall. There was one for 1k and another for 3k.

Where is this @? ASC, HBL? only 200 over? That's like a week worth of driving around here.

The 1,000 service is really nothing, just rotate the tires, a general check over and answer any questions you may have with the car. If you skip this it's no big deal.

Definitely do the 3,000 and if you're over that it's also no big deal.

Last week, when I was waiting at the Service representative's office, I was browsing through the MB dealer magazine and a memo on his desk. It was mentioned that from the 09 models, MB would NOT recommend the initial service (I think it is called Service A) since this was introduced to identify quality issues. But it was mentioned that MB is happy with its quality standards that it is now discontinuing the first free service.

It was also mentioned that from 09 models, MB would go back to service every 10K miles instead of 13K miles. I am not sure about the exact language mentioned on the memo but this was the gist of it.

Can anyone confirm about this? Also would this also apply to 08 model cars??

Going to a 10K service schedule just makes sense. People don't like "math", and adding up sums of 13 is HARD ;-)

So, just get it serviced every 10K miles and you're good to go!

Let's see .... for the 2008, making the conversion ...
13K, 26K, 39K, 50K, 60K, 70K, 80K, etc. Okay, that's doable ....
