Question 2009 C350 Electrical problem?

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I just bought a 2009 C350 sport last weekend. On about 5 occasions after I shut the car off and everything shuts down, 10 minutes later I walk over to the car and the navigation system is back out and the radio is on even though the key is not in the ignition. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Poltergeists. A little advertised feature common to Mercedes. Don't worry, the smart battery system will shut it all off before the battery completely runs down.

(Um, you really should take this to your dealer and demonstrate it!)

Yeah, I was hoping it would shut itself down before the battery died. I told my dealer and he said if it keeps happening to bring it in. The problem is I bought it at a dealership 50 miles away and only have limited free time because of my work schedule. So this problem is pretty common?

I think maybe you are touching the navi unit after you turn the car off. I did that and the system came back on. I only noticed it because I happed to look back in and then I heard the stereo. So when you turn off the car, dont touch the system and get out. Use your remote window open and see if it is on or not. If after ten min it is on..... take your car to a priest!!

just kiddin but take it to the dealer, try it out.

never heard of this problem before. Take it to dealer if you can reproduce the issue.

I made the same complaint to my dealer (same exact experience) after a week of owning the car. After walking out of the car and activating the remote to lock the vehicle, my audio system turns back on. The service advisor said they found nothing wrong....but added that they noted the compalint in my records for future reference. It turns out that if you press the button to open the retractable cover of your audio system, the system turns on even without the key fob in the ignition.

Are you saying you leave the cover up and it turns on after you lock the car?

Or, are you implying that there's dirt in the contact switch (which one) and the audio system will turn itself on without you doing anything?

Surprising the dealer couldn't/wouldn't fix it ... did you actually demonstrate this?

(At 9 months, 13K miles, no such problem on mine ... )

since you have limited time
I suggest maybe video taping the incident.

do you leave the navi monitor open when you walk out?
check your system settings and options.

I usually mute the system, and when I remove the ignition
the navi automatically closes.

No......I'm saying go inside your car, turn the key to on position, turn the radio on, then push down the radio cover( to turn the radio off), turn the key off and pull it out..next open the radio cover...the radio should turn back on even with the key in your hand . Now if you get out of the car and press the key to lock the doors your radio will continue to be on. Try it on your car. evryone I know with a c-class does the same thing.

Does the same thing with the On button but shuts down automatically after a set period of time. That function is normal.

The self activation is not but if it doesn't shut down by itself later, the battery will be dead overnight.

Maybe this is the new MB Intelligent Navi system which reads your mind and automatically calculates the route for your next trip.

Another clue, do you have bluetooth active? As I learnt, the system doesn't disconnect your BT phone even if you switched engine off, so if you are still near of car and received a call, car will aslo receive it.

If you turn your car off the screen goes down. You can turn it back on at the push of a button on the dash. So maybe the guy turned of the car and stayed in it to listen to music. Afterwords maybe he just hit the power button on the sterio to turn off the tuns but left the screen up.
I dont have my car yet so I dont really know for sure but this is what I suspect.
