C63 Diffuser w/OEM C350 Tip (Quad) Install & *Pics
I’ve found a pretty easy solution if you are having issues finding reasonably priced exhaust tips for the conversion.
After searching & searching & more searching Online, EBay, at Local Exhaust Shops & numerous Private Messages to people that have already done this (using SLK55, E55 tips, etc…) thanks micropower99… My dealer could not get just the tips, only the AMG’s mufflers with the tips $$$.
I have found a Factory Oval Tip with very close width & height (within 1/16”) to the real AMG C63 Tips! I just left the dealer and measured the C63 tips 4-13/16” against the……….… WAIT A SECOND………. C350 sport 4-3/4”
That’s only 1/16” difference! 2.5mm difference to the people outside the U.S.A. The height is the same!
Long story short I ordered them! The cost is only $84 bucks each! I just have to reuse the other two on the car. That’s not too bad for me I just picked up the C350 on Sept. 15th, so my tips still look new.
While these tips may not say AMG on them, they are readily available, OEM, The right Shape & Size. That’s cool with me. My quest to find tips was getting tiring. And… Yes the C350 & C300 are the same part #’s
Also measured the C63 opening and it’s approximately 11-3/4” if anyone was curious.
With the AMG Brackets putting the diffuser on was BOLT IN! No modifications!
Here’s the Parts I used;
AMG Rear Diffuser A204 885 45 25
AMG L & R Brackets A204 885 23 14 and A204 885 24 14
Here are the tip part #’s 204 490 63 27 & 204 490 64 27

*Attach with Rivet

*Attach with Rivet

.
*** Put back the stock bolt!
.
.
.
*Cut the inside of the two Outer tips
.
.
.
* The inside two tips cut flat
.
.
.
Just after... we made some minor adjustments after driving around the block to let the exhaust & suspension settle
.
.
.
It’s hard to see but the tips are actually evenly spaced I will have to get better pictures to show sometime.
.
.
The main differences between using the AMG tips versus the C300/350 tips are that I could follow/match the curved contour on the bumper/diffuser with the edge of the tips, instead of staggering them like the other installs.
Yes, I am aware the factory staggers them but these tips did not look right staggered because the edge is slightly curved to match the bumper. AMG tips are a little bit more squared off on the edge and look better staggered.
Enjoy, give feedback or hate away......

Those look great Vader, easily as good as the AMG tips. And in my opinion, for something as purely asthetic as exhaust tips, it's not worth paying the way-too-high-prices of AMG.

Thanks Guys!
Maverickvii - Thanks! Yup, I agree staggered would have only looked cool if the AMG tips were used.
JasonEB - I did nothing other than add the tips so, no noticeable change in exhaust note… but I am still driving around in ‘C’ mode until I have a 1,000 miles on it. Trying to be good and follow the owners manual.
micropower99 – I still have not gotten around to installing those door sills… But I will!

Excellent job and thanks for sharing your initiative!
Did you get a local muffler shop to fabricate the connection for the new tips, and how much did it cost?
I'm planning on doing this in the spring, possibly with a CF diffuser.

Brackets $24....each x2= $48 .........(A204 885 23 14 & A204 885 24 14)
Diffuser ......................$264 .........(A204 885 45 25)

Excellent job and great write-up!
Very innovative of you to utilize the stock tips and the customer welder did an excellent job of lining the tips.

... Thanks! I think it looks factory because it does not have the AMG tips.... I went to the dealer this morning and was told by a tech, 'Hey what option code is that? The AMG 950 sport option?'. I confessed but it made me feel pretty good.

... like I was telling JasonEB, I did nothing other than add the tips so, no noticeable change in exhaust note… but I am still driving around in ‘C’ mode until I have a 1,000 miles on it. Trying to be good and follow the owners manual. I'll keep ya posted when I break the 1k barrier and get to floor it!

so people that use AMG tips which come connected to the pipe probably lose performance then, when you do not lose or gain anything I assume?

benggolf .....Thanks
rb23lb..... The added tip is functional but I have not driven my car hard yet. I’m still in transmission mode ‘C’ which starts out in second gear and shifts early.
I would suspect no loss/gain in performance.
Now in the sound department, that is yet to be seen. I assume the exhaust note will be a little louder (mega-phone theory) by having two more functional exhaust exits.
I’ll keep you posted when I reach 1000 miles…. I have 922 miles now so maybe in two days?
