Ring Volume HELP

I know ALOT of you have this problem about not being able to turn down or Mute (prefered) the annoying RING TONE volume when receiving incoming call in the car. And yes I've done the search on the forum and yet to no avail of a solution. The only thing I havent done was going to the service and let them check. But I see someone has already went but with no solution. I can't think of any other solution regarding this situation other than NOT using it. Which is BULL CRAP. Im pleading everyone to help us find solution to this annoying and heart pounding problem. PLEASE !

have u not read my post clearly? Let me clarify again.. I've tried everything the in the forum and other forums has offered solutions for this problem. No offense but ur solution will not work with my situation because ALOT of ppl have tried it and it just reset back to the original loud ring volume. Your solution are for ppl who are pure stupid or ppl who panic and didn't go try any other solutions. Do you really think ppl are THAT stupid? better rethink who u should hang out with eh

It doesn't permanently change the incoming call volume (for me, anyway). The ringer volume lowers for that single call, but as soon as the next person calls, the ring volume is back at that high level.

I recently got a C300 loaner that did permanently adjust incoming ring volume, but that car didn't have MM.

This question has been asked a million times on this forum and I still haven't seen an answer that solves this problem for my car.

for the record, your original post did not say that you tried to turn it down via the radio volume knob.

and second. it worked for my car, with MM. so there.

I have a theory that the car remembers the call volume for each specific caller. That being said, if the incoming caller is "unknown" (ie your phone book isn't uploaded, etc) you won't encounter this problem...

Anyway, it still doesn't work for my car. I lower the incoming ring volume 10 times a day...

perhaps a COMAND update difference. maybe late build 08s and 09s have the ring volume that can be changed

Same here, but one more thing...

When I picked up my car at the factory the technician showed how I could adjust the volume level of several voice-over cues/prompts/messages from Navi and phone by quickly adjusting the volume level using the command radio volume knob on the dash (while the ring or voice was still present), and then quickly confirming the setting by quickly pushing down the command selector knob on the console.

Using this procedure I have been able to get all of the rings and voice-over messages permanently set at comfortable level.

No. It is the same volume for unknown and known calls which I selected once. I do not have to change it for each new caller stored in my address book of Merc.

Seems nothing that the forum has offered as a solution has worked for you.

If I was you, I would go my nearest MB Dealership, and get an expert answer from them, then come back here, and tell the rest of the forum and it's members on how to resolve this issue.

Your first post asked for help, yet you looked all over the forums and found nothing that helped you.

perhaps you should have made your first post in another way....

something like this maybe..

"I tried all the suggestions on the forum, and none worked, I went to my dealer and they suggested to do this ..............

and I am happy to say, this worked, or did not work"
but hey to each his own

hope you get an answer,,,,

by the way, mine just works fine, I turned it down with the knob in the middle of the dash, no more high/loud wake up calls for me,,,,even the voice on the navigation is now a pleasant level.

Well... it's frustrating for us who have this problem to constantly hear "just turn the volume down" -- I just came from a drive where I received 4 calls. Had to individually turn the volume down on all of them. It's driving me CRAZY!!!

I've emailed my service rep and sales rep so we'll see what they say. They've been generally worthless since I've bought the car, but I'm pretty desperate at this point.

MB_horseshoe did you try turning the volume down with the buttons on the wheel while it was ringing? I know this worked for me and it was also the only way to adjust the Navi volume. If not I would stop by a different dealer than the one you have seen already. Hope this helps.

Yes. I even had my girlfriend call me about 10 times in a row and I tried about just about everything.

Using the steering wheel buttons. Using the volume knob (where the on button is). Following up the ring volume with a click of the command button.

Nothing works. Haven't heard from my service or sales guy. Will call another dealer.

Thanks

or maybe (just a random thought), you should try to lower the volume from your actual phone while its ringing and see if that works. might be connected somehow. most people keep their ring volume on the highest on their phone setting.

Maybe i'm missing something, but I have yet to change ANY settings and when my phone rings in the car I hear the phone alone nothing from the car stereo or anywhere else and I can answer it with the car with out any problems.

Ok for those of you who had the same problem as me like mb_horseshoe, the mobile merc tech said that they couldn't find a solution for this. They said it is suppose to be like this and there is no other way to reset the "preset ring volume". I've even watch him use the computer to plug into my command system and he said he couldn't change it from there. But I have a theory. As my other post (secret thread) have said, I've used the Nokia N82 with no problem at all. I can even have the ring tone from the phone to play in the speaker of the car. I can even silent the ring tone like most other can in the forum. When my gf jacked my phone (she wanted a GPS phone ) I got myself Sony ericsson c902. And I couldn't do any of the above and that phone keeps reconnecting on the first initial connect to the bluetooth of the car. So unless I can convince my gf to switch my phone, I guess I have to live with it or get another NOKIA or wait for a new command update to come out in Canada. Thats my temporary solution for now. mb_horseshoe, maybe try to use another phone. Thanks everyone for the help.
