W204 Door Pins
Whats up with the mention of dorr pins on some posts whereby the lisiting of modifications is shown?
Why change door pins?
I assume this is something to do with the door hinge pins, do they go bad?

cause they are cheap plastic and protrude out of the side panel, if you drive an automatic, you can't even put ur left (or right, if you drive on the other side) arm on the door comfortably.

Maybe a bit of explanation is in order.
"Door pin" is not intended to be confused with the hinge pins that hold the door onto the body. A Door Pin is the plastic thingy that sticks up allowing you to pull up higher to unlock the door.
Especially in the rear, they tend to simply break off on first/second pull. A fix has been developed for that.
For the front seats, they are uncomfortable when you rest your arm on the open window sill. They are poorly designed, and have bad effect when you do drive-in banking, drive-in food, etc.
Many other manufacturers have better approaches. The Mercedes door pin is a throw back to the 60s, but not as well done.
Helps?

I just heard that Brabus has corrected pins for the 204. The current listed pins they had associated with 204s were actually for 203s and were part marked as such. It's pressure held in the rear. Only problem....they're F'ing expensive.

Got that info from a shop near me. The owner also drives a 204 and has the new Brabus pins. Unfortunately, you won't be able to split as there's a front set and a rear set. They both sit flush.

They sit flush AND they replace our pins.... I'm almost 100% onboard at almost any cost. I just wish they slightly resembled the old golf tees -- these pins suck, I'll say it how it is. If your gonna make cheap crappy pins, at least get rid of the mold marks where they were broken out of the plastic mold. Ugh....

they sell for about $125 here in the US. Installation will probably run you $30-50. Have to remove door panel in the rear from what I understand.
I've attached the old Brabus part#/price list for 204s. As you can see in the part#, they mistakenly placed 203 pins for the 204s.

you'll have the same issue with Brabus pins as you will any other pin. Screw on fronts are just fine, but the rears will require custom work.

I'm thinking of removing the rear door pins and filling the hole with a black plastic cap or plug. That would be really clean looking.
Personally I think door pins are uneccessary when you have power door locks, and I never have people in the back seats.
