ECU Mod
Hey Guys,
I'm looking to do the Speed Innovation ECU mod, especially now that they have the special going on. I was wondering (especially from the ones who have done it), how do I get to the ECU and how do I go abouts to removing it? If anyone has some pictures or a DIY that would be awesome, I don't even know what the ECU looks like lol.
Thanks in advance guys

Does Speed Innovation have any Dyno numbers out on this? Does it improve throttle response as that is my biggest gripe with stock unit?

Their pretty reputable. They claim 18hp and 24tq and would get rid of the throttle lag completely. Another member on the board has done it and loved it. (Azn_300). Only thing I worry about is sending my ECU board out there. (The risks of Fedex or UPS losing it in the process is a scary one as these are extremely expensive)

Yes, and in all of the cars I have done, the ECU is usually in the cowl area and the unit is in a box that should just unplug. My last car, however, was done by plugging into the OBD II port. Call Speed Innovation and ask them where it's located. The website doesn't offer the info.

the ECU is the metal "box" on the top of the motor. if your looking at the V6 emblem on anything other than the C63 its that thing above or behind, depending on which way your looking, with the heat sink fins. Basically its the only piece of metal visible when the covers are on.

Thanks for the input bro. What kind of gains have you had in the past with them? Have you dyno'd before or could just feel a difference?
on 211, i did the dyno but that was with pulley mod so i don't have dyno # just for the tune...
I know a few people that are all very happy with SI. In fact I don't think I've ever heard a bad thing. The tune is fairly cheap in comparison to others but without solid data its tough to rip the brain out of a car and send it off to the lowest priced vendor.
i''m happy with 3 SI tunes...
do ur dyno before ur ECU tune...
get SI tune and do another dyno (this will give u accurate "data" you looking for)
if u aren't happy with results, just send it back to get de-tuned and money back...

Just an update guys. I paid for the ECU tune and am having it done later in December. (Around the 26th or 27th) As I need the use of my car quite bit between now and then but I still wanted to get the deal before the end of the month when it goes back to 599$.
p.s. I also bought the Kenwood CCD-2000 backup camera, and should have that installed around the same time.
