Important info re: child seats and ordering your W204
I don't know what the standard spec is in the US but the following is worth checking. AKSE or ACSR (automatic child seat recognition) is the system that allows a Mercedes baby car seat with built in transponders to switch off the passenger airbag once it is placed on the seat. This feature does not come as standard in Europe but is an additional cost of approx $100.
If it is not ordered to be factory fitted to the car from new, the post-delivery cost is in the region of $2000 as the wiring loom to the seats from the CPU etc needs to be changed.
I recall somebody mentioning that it is illegal in the US to have a rear facing child seat in the passenger seat but in the case that it isn't and at some point this will be an issue for you, it is one to definitely consider. It is only the accountants who would come up with such a ridiculous concept of saving $100 per car where the post delivery costs are a massive multiple of this.
So, if you have children or planning to, and need them in the front and it isn't standard, make sure to check the small print. Obviously, all the warnings prevail about child seats and the fact that the safest place is for them to be in the middle of the rear seats but that is a seperate debate.
Hope this helps.

Bud,
It is true that it is illegal to have a rear facing child seat in the passenger seat, but it is legal to have a front facing child seat in the front. I agree it is still better to have them in the back, but it is a nice safety feature if you want them in the front.
