Mysterious Part Number

I drove about 50 miles in the rain today and when I finally parked in my garage, I saw a slip of paper hanging out from below my rear license plate. So I tugged at it and saw that it appears to be an original part Id.

What is it? Why did it take a full year to fall out?

Mysteries abound, eh?

It also suggests that my car was assembled after 16-Aug-07 ...

All of the removable body panels have an ID tag. The date is the build date of the part, not the car.

That is the tag for the License Plate Bracket. MSRP=$31.00

Mine fell off the last time I removed my plate for cleaning.

Strange Part #, normaly the first digits gives info about the car's model.

So your begins with A 169.... and the A 169 is a Mercedes A-Class

My sticker had the same p/n. And yes... it is a part number from the A Class. Just one of a few parts we share between models.

Probably not many common parts with the A-class except screws and nuts etc. but this specific part on the other hand has been used on many other models in addition to 204 and 169: 164, 211, 216, 219, 221, 906.
