Thanks. But before I try this out, do you know what's the worse case scenario if I mess up. Do you think I should just go to the dealer and have it done or is there a reset option incase something goes wrong when I try it myself. Also, want to confirm that this will take care of mp3 cd to hdd transfer.

Worse case is you lose all the songs already on the hard drive and it doesn't work. Then just set it back to RIP.

i just tried going into the engineering mode and selecting the option you mentioned. when i go down to option 7.7 and choose option 15, i get DVD ON and OFF option and it is currently set to ON. Dont see the option of changing to copy. do you think it is related to geography, i mean are you located in the US or elsewhere. I am thinking of taking this issue to the dealer to see if they have any fixes. else, i will stick with the option of copying from CD to HDD instead of MP3 or memory card to HDD. anyways, thanks for all your help.

If you look at the profile of previous posters, at least I can find Nevada, New Jersey, New York and places like that mentioned. I've understood those being part of the US. You might add similar info to your profile.
