Centre Speedo Display

Does anyone know if you can either Dim it or turn it off completely. The thing is just too bright at night time for me, would rather have the display off but I cannot seem to see anyway to do this. Seems daft that you have brightness controls for the centre pop up screen & a dimming control for the dashboard lighting yet this does not adjust the centre speedo screen.

Isn't the cluster brightness control at the left/bottom of the instrument cluster?

Yes as I stated there is a brightness control for the instrument cluster lights but it does not alter the centre speedo display..the ambient light behind the digits ( mpg, time, audio etc ) is too bright at night...I would just like to be able to turn that screen off at night, that would be ideal

I have dimmed mine several times and have not noticed the central display being brighter than the surrounding dials. Maybe this is a C63 thing??

Its the backlight!

No its the contrast on the centre info display screen, its too high at night and does not dim with the surrounding instrument dials. I cannot believe people do not notice it when driving at night. The digits such as mpg/time etc are ok but the black background is just too bright. It needs to be darker, its like the nav/info screens in BMW..ie when you turn off the screen, it does not actually switch off it has an ambient contrast light like watching a switched on TV screen with no picture...Im sure someone must know what I mean, hardly noticeable during the day, but like I say at night it really catches my eye

Now I see what you mean. Don't have the car to verify that, on my W221 the centre display adapts well with the cluster brightness adjustment but then again, there is not too much else in addition to the centre display on a W221.

I've had mine for one day and am already thinking I've got to make an insert to cover the damn thing. WAY TOO BRIGHT at night. If I find out anything I'll post.

A bright white light in your face when it is dark outside...

Service manager says the LED center screen has no brightness adjustments on the unit itself.

It does dim via the dash adjuster but even when the outer ring lights are completely dark I find it too bright. I am sure there's a way to adjust the voltage somehow but I'm unwilling to disassemble the thing.

Going to try some static window tint on it and will make inquiries at other local dealer svc. departments.

No i completely agree. The car automatically switches between a bright and a dim mode for it. The dim one isn't bad when driving on brightly lit streets in the city but anywhere else I feel the center display is too bright. Sadly there is no way to dim it or shut it off.
