Extrapolated tyre life
I am in the process of doing my 12 month service & removed all wheels to check brakes & boots ect.
The car has done just over 10,000 km .I have measured the tyre wear on my French made Bridgestone Turanza 205/55 x16's ie at the tyre centre from the low wear mark( bead) to the top of the tread. The fronts were 5mm from a max of 6 mm therefore indicating a tyre life of 60,000 km . The interesting part is that the rears measured 4mm from the new tyre figure of 6 indicating a life of 30,000 Km. Therefore an average of 45,000 km per set.
I thought that I would achieve a little better than this ( ie 70,000 km) as I drive carefully like an old fart most of the time.
I would be interested to know the mileage is everyone else achieving out of a set & which brand ?

Forget about long life on Turanzas; won't happen.
Replace them with Michelins if you want longer life, not to mention a better ride.
The Contis will last the longest, but they're nothing special [except inexpensive].
Here in the North American market, the tire of choice for this car would be the Michelin Primacy MXV4 - don't know if it is available elsewhere.

Tire life is very difficult to gauge -- I know my mother and I both had W203's with the exact same tires - her's an 04, mine an 06... however I was fine turning the car in with 55k miles in less than 3 years, and she needed new tires because hers were literally balled at 28k miles... So, driving habits, engine power, stop and go, all have to do with estimated tire wear.
Plus - and I'm not sure how much I believe this, but my SA mentioned to keep a close eye on tire wear because it can suddenly wear down past the half way point very quickly. Either way, good practice to keep an eye out.
