I didn't even notice the door pins sticking out until I read it here before, but it still doesn't bug me. I guess it would look and feel a little bit better if they were flush but not a big issue for me.

I agreed that they stick out a bit too much but why don't you just swap out the front driver pin
Except when they pop out as you are trying to unlock it in the back
I know the door lock pin stinking out is really ugly.. but Maybe... just maybe it serves this one purpose, if we can't push the unlock bottom to open the door, we can manually pull it out? I don't know. that's just my assumption.

I wish they would either go away or sit flush when locked. They obviously are not really meant to be used since mine (and others I've read about here) have broken when pulling up on them, so there goes the 'for emergency use' excuse...

why cant Benz learn from BMW?? My E36 coupe and only on the coupe... the door pin sits flush with the door when it's locked..the 4 door sedan does not have the door pin flush with the door...
but for the safety..
when you open the door from the inside.. pull the door handle will unlock the door first.. and pull the door handle the second time will open the door.. i think this is safer than benz.. which when the door is locked you can still open the door from the inside with one pull on the door handle...

Well - See FrankW's post. In the ROW the pins are considered indicators & indicators only. They are neatly fluted with nothing to grab on. They do sit flush with the door when locked. Only the US has those 1964 Caddy things. This is what they look like on 203 - same on 204 - I'm too lazy to go take another pic. & camera batteries are flat as usual & the lady of the family is out with the car

Seriously though, I like the single pull but I don't have kids, dogs, etc...

Here in the States single pull only works from the front doors. Rear passangers will either pull the pin (thus breaking it) or they have to wait for someone in hte front to open their door or press the unlock switch.

not gonna change the pin on the 204 tho. too much work. unlike the golf-tee, this time they used the one that once you push it down you can't pull out without destroying them.

Door pins look much better flush but I personally want to be able to have an escape route when power fails and the car has been turned upside down. The numbers aren't staggering, but some people have died or suffered more serious injuries than they would have if they were able to open the door and escape in time. It comes down to aesthetics vs. safety.

If I remember correctly the door locks will open if the airbags are triggered, feels a bit far fetched that there would be a higher risk using the ROW pins.

^ pulling the handle unlocks the door... i don't believe its a electronic process either...
and pulling the pin might break it especially with your car turned over and while you are trying to escape lol

Just keep one of these around for emergencies. More reliable in case of emergency. Electrical fails, but mechanical movement can also get warped or bent and rendered nonfunctional.
