Aussie C200k
Hey Guys
Just seeking some info. Been reading posts about the 09 model, which is the one i have on order. I was lent an 08 model to drive for a couple of days, which made my mind up. I ordered a C200k in black with AMG and vision pack.
Does everyone know the key differences between the 08 and 09 model?
and
Recommendations on some mods to start off on?
Cheers

What, mudflaps standard on 2009 US cars? Do you mean the split rear seat? It may be standard in the US but definitely not in Europe (and Australia follows pretty much the Euro features, except they keep on insisting the steering wheel on the wrong side).

As far as the split rear seat, you would think it should be standard, but it is only included in the P2 package in the States

In the States, you can get mud flaps on the Luxury model but not the sport. If you guys can get mud flaps and have the same AMG body work, I am going to have to get you to pick me up a set......I doubt it though.

I believe it is the same for now in Europe too, OEM mudflaps are not made to match the AMG package 950 type of side skirts. This is a quote from the German price list, for the mud flaps:
"3) nicht in Verbindung mit Sport-Paket AMG, Code 950"

I've been looking for this info too (differences between 2008 and 2009 models), since I have a 2009 S204 (estate) on order. So far, for Euro-spec versions the only difference I've been able to find is that all cars now seem to get the 'hooded' dials which were previously only on the C63 AMG. At least I think it's on all models, since both the cars I've seen them with were AMG sport pack versions (or plain 'Sport' as they are called in the US).

I'm not sure if the mirrors were introduced as part of the 2009 model. I had the impression they just became standard as soon as the 250 CDI BlueEfficiency model was shown. In any case the key reason they were introduced, is because Europe decided not to go through with planned legislation that would enforce the 'dumbo ears' mirrors you previously saw on the C (i.e. MB installed these in anticipation of European legislation which in the end didn't come through). You also (still) see similarily huge mirrors on cars like the BMW 3 LCI and Alfa 159 (not sold in US).
I suspect Europe dropped the plans for their huge mirrors law (which aimed at more safety through better visibility I would guess) because they impart a big fuel penalty (more CO2) due to messing up the aerodynamics of a car. MB probably spotted the opportunity and dropped the dumbo ears ASAP. That way they can improve fuel efficiency / CO2 ratings (important since both BMW and Audi are beating them for 4-pot diesels, until the new gen 200/220 CDI are introduced). Perhaps also because the old ones were apparantly quite creaky .
