Sport + Luxury = Halfbreed??

Yesterday I saw a C300 that had a bit of the Sport and Luxury model. I was not able to see the inside but the outside had the luxury bodywork and wheels but the sport grill and hood ornament. If anything, I would rather go with the AMG bodywork and swith over to the classic MB grill.
Anyhow, just wondering if this is somthing they had to mod themselves or if there are any wierd packages out there? Canadian model??

This is not uncommon...we have done a few sport grille conversions (sport grille on luxury model)...cost is around $450 installed.

I have thought the luxury grill would look pretty good on the sport...kinda like a mini S Class...

I agree that the sport with lux grill would give a nice clean look. But putting a sport grill on lux model and also keeping the hood ornament is too over the top. It also won't give a balanced look with rest of the car.

Do you have any of those Luxury grill takeoffs to sale cheap? I am thinking about switching and if the price is right.

Sport grille + Lux package == Avantgarde model... that's what it's called in the non-US market. One step lower than full-fledged AMG package (that Canada & US gets with the Sport Package).

My wife's C350 was ordered with the Lux grill and upright star. It actually looks pretty classy. They added this into the deal.

Unfortunately the customer's kept their luxury grilles. I'll call one though, he may be willing to part with it.

You can find Lux grilles on Ebay for about $50.00. Keep looking. I have bought three of them in the past.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCE...Q5fAccessories

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUTHE...Q5fAccessories

You can go to performance parts or formymercedes.com for the sport grille:

http://www.formymercedes.com/mb_resu...tegory=Grilles

Paying $450.00 would be foolish. Plus they only take about 5 minutes to swap out.

C300 Luxury w/sport grille
That's how mine looks... Mine's a luxury version, but I switched the grill because liked the lux version better... the dealer told me that many people did that, but I kept both things on mine..
Many people get thrown off by the combination and often ask me what model it is that i'm driving... I personally like how it looks

Example of Avantgarde trim (half sport half lux):

Example of the other way around (AMG bodykit & Luxury grille):

Oh for crying out loud. I have a Sport grille and 18's on my Lux because it looks better. To me.

You certainly would not leave the hood star on because one star is enough.

For what the Sport grill plus the flat medallion costs plus fifteen minutes work, that's a very nice profit. VERY nice.

True. That's why I posted the links above.

Hey guys, I'll do it for $300.00. I'll even paint the grille any color of your choice.

They're available in the States as an option. Also standard on Canadian-spec C230W/C230W4M. I think they look great.

I saw a luxury grill + AMG bumper Canadian C230 today for the first time today. I think I like the look, not sure though. I've always been a fan of the upright star.

I also put the lux grille on ($40 shipped off ebay) and left the flat badge. Nice, classic and clean.

I might put the sport grille back on in the summer time.

German Anger has his lux grille painted black. Gloss, I think. It looks really good on his car.

We needed awd, and went for the lux model ride and interior, and added the sport grille (thanks FrankW) and flat emblem for the look.

For a daily driver, with awd, wider rear wheels were not needed, and we have more options for tire rotation.

Hey Krytech, thanks for the photo...the color, and clear markers give me a bit closer idea of what I will be looking at. Have you got any more photos you can post or PM?
Thanks
