How to disassemble headlight?
Does anyone have any tips/ideas how to get the headlights off? Basically get them off the car? Just wondering if anyone has done this themselves before, perhaps I have to take off the bumper. Also where are the mounting points for the bumper?
Will be trying to DIY the black housing, as soon as it gets a little warmer.
eg.

i look forward to seeing this progress
i am considering going the more expensive route and buying an extra set of headlights to try this with versus using the ones on my car.

cook them! if you have *****.. im just kidding, if you stick them in the oven for a bit it (one by one) then it should be easier to pry apart. then just buy a heat resistant molding that you can seal them back up (this is the hard part). good luck. post diy please!

Also, I heard that as you peel apart the housing, you have to be extra careful with the adhesive as it stretches/strands out and if any of the loose adhesive gets on the inside, especially the lamp portion, you're f*ed.

A friend of mine did this for his headlight housing on his other car... When I asked him how to do it (I'd like to have black housings as well) he said he put his entire headlight into the oven for a little while (not sure how long or what temperature) to make the adhesive loose enough to peel apart.
As AZN said, it peels apart and can get messy. Anyway, after he explained that I pretty much said screw it, too complicated.
Hope this helps.
By the way, a good body shop or aftermarket spot should be able to help.

I would consider buying an extra set of lights in case of a problem... Color-coding looks really nice too imo!

I'd also be concerned that when you put them back, will you have a good seal so that you dont get that water condensation inside of your headlight in the future...
