CD player can't play MP3 or burn CDs?
I don't have MM package, just single disk CD player
I have always thought the player can play burn CD with MP3 files.
I tried it a few times and it always gave me error messages.
I went into the dealer a few weeks ago and asked about that. They told me the CD players aren't even suppose to play burn CD with just regular music. BUT i have been playing burn CDs (just not MP3 files).
Can anyone tell me anything about it? thank you in advance.

well, they do play CD-R. but only when you convert the mp3 files into sounds files. you can only store about 20 songs in one disk. I was hoping it will be able to play mp3 file. a disk can store up to 80 songs?

Mine Plays burned MP3 CDs...
I don't have MM nor 6-disc... just the single one and it plays burned mp3 cds perfectly. Sometimes it has to do with the brand of the CD or the program you use..
I've used Windows Media Player and Roxio Creator Basic and both appear to work. The car will read the ID tags and display the name of the file. As an added bonus, if you burn them with WMP it will organize the cd into folders with artists and the car will as well recognize this and organize it for you(this is really nice)
I've been using Imation CD-R
hope this helps

i have the 6 cd changer with no navigation package but to play an mp3 cd simply just create a jukebox disc which is the songs are in mp3 format. you have to create it as a jukebox disc then rather just burning mp3 files on to blank cd like a data cd or something. hope this helps

I have an 08 w204 without MM package and it plays .mp3 files. It could be that MB has changed manufacturers of the radios and the new ones don't play .mp3 files, wouldn't put it past them. Although it still states in the brochures and online website material that both the MM and standard radio play .mp3 files.

WELL THE ONLY I HAVE DONE IT IS THROUGH ROXIO WHEN U INSERT THE BLANK CD AND OPEN ROXIO THERE IS A LIST OF WHAT TYPE OF CD U WANT TO CREATE... SIMPLY CHOOSE JUKEBOX THEN IT WILL BURN THE CD AS A DATA JUKEBOX CD WHERE U CAN PUT THEM AS MP3 FILES AND HAVE LIKE A BILLION SONGS ON ONE CD

I've been driving a 2010 C300 loaner while my CLK is in the shop, and it has the aux input in the glovebox, but not the iPod cable (another Loaner I used before had that). With the simple aux input, you have to select songs using the iPod itself and, even worse, when you change inputs it stops the iPod, so you'd have to take it out and hit play again. I read some threads about burning an mp3 DVD and I did that, burning mostly songs that I had uploaded into iTunes off CDs, plus some that I had ripped off the web (I've never bought an iTunes song). Anyway, the display read "cannot read disk". BTW, it does play CD-RW's as well as CD-R's, and even displays song titles when playing them. My CLK, a 2006, plays CD-RW's only in the HU but doesn't display song info, and won't play CD-RW's in the changer at all. CD-R's are fine anywhere, no song info though.
