Front Lower Grill has a hole. What now?
Hey I just noticed that a rock much have went through my lower grill in the middle of my front bumper. I need to replace it. I am surprised to see how flimsy it was.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is there any aftermarket lower grill out there that looks nice?

Asanti make a metal replacement lower grill. Very expensive if I remember correctly, also polished to a high sheen so unless you want bling it will need to be painted.

The part is relatively cheap from the dealership, but you will still have a very brittle plastic grille.
Removal and installation is much harder than it sounds, even the dealership was really disappointed about its design. The grille is mounted from behind the bumper, so removal of the bumper is required to remove and install the mesh. The OEM part costed $80 and labor was almost $200.
The ones I've seen on eBay is for the Luxury model.
Asanti's chrome mesh grill package is a about $4,000, which is obscenely and needlessly expensive, and looks too flashy for our cars. You're just paying for the tacky name and bling (they are the same company that makes diamond encrusted wheels).
Carlsson has a steel mesh package that includes the lower grille opening and foglight surround grilles. It is still expensive at $550, but it is well made and cost as much as two OEM replacements (including labor), which for some people (like myself) will pay itself in no time.
I'm on my second damaged OEM mesh grille, and I am considering the Carlsson mesh when my current damaged mesh grille gets more damaged, or most likely in the summer.

The first time was from rocks, rather small ones on the highway (less than an inch in size). It didn't sound like it made any damage, but it went right through the
The second time was from a 4" strip of a semi-truck tire tread which was kicked up from the car infront of me.
Carlsson products are rarely on sale, and the mesh for the sport models is a little to harder to find and more expensive than the versions for the luxury models, but I think it is definitely worth it.
