i have the same kit in 8K, but i did not have that dark spot. do you have fog lights? Did you put them in correctly?

Google aftermarket HID upgrade bulbs and you can find all sorts of articles about how HID bulbs do not properly use the optics of halogen headlights.

haha...well i understand that the headlight housings were not designed for HID but the dark spot occurs only on one side and seems as if there is an obstruction, as there is not even glare or scatter in that region.
i was just curious if anyone had similar results or a solution???
thanks

it may be the way its angled. I originally put HID's in mine and they had no dark spots. but after taking them out and putting them back in I also noticed a dark spot but on my passenger side.
I took the bulb back out and put them back in perfectly straight and the spots gone.

Can you take some more pics of this "dark spot"? Like against a wall or something... Have you tried to properly realign the HIDs after install?

Its because of the actual C300 projector lens... This write-up is a retrofit for an FX35 projector with TSX lens... We should be able to do the same for MBs OEM lens-
I just need to find a way into incorportaing this into my C300 headlamps![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)

The swap out of the lens seems relatively simple, but wouldn't this involve removing the headlight and disassembling it? I think that requires baking it to loosen the adhesive, etc.
I'm all-in if someone can figure out an easy way to do it. I'd also like to paint the reflector's flat-black.

I've cleared several headlight before and not really all that difficult. Just have to take your time and be patient ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm looking at some retrofitters to have them just do the work for me- we will see just how much time i can find![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

It seems like an incredibly difficult DIY.

Just curious, is that where the light ends? or is it just a dark spot?
Wondering if you adjust the drivers side using the left/right adjuster if that would correct this issue for you.

i dont think thats where the light output ends as there is light beyond the dark spot towards the left side of road.
is the left/right adjuster on the back of the headlight housing(lower into engine bay)? i thought the up/down adjusters were the ones you can see looking straight down onto the engine bay and have been using those?

I'll have to take a look at the headlights, to let you know which one is which, but there should be two adjusters... if you've played it the up and down, then the other adjuster is the left and right.

have you solved this problem yet? i have the exact same problem with my HIDs.
the dark spot is a thin arrow shaped area when you hold a piece of paper to your headlight, i have no idea whats causing this or how to fix it.

There is nothing wrong with the H7 HID kit itself... The problem is that the oem halogen projectors are not meant to work on H7 xenon light source - hence producing what you see as hot spots (dark spots)...
The only real way to resolve this is to go the route of a full projector retrofit, possibly with a d2s HID kit (oem ones)... imho, this is the right way to go. Acuras have some of the nicest (color output) and brightness of any xenon projectors in the market. You should look into a TL/FX/S2000 projector... S2000s are sweet!
If you want a better light source and just want to keep the projector lens, I suggest swapping back on your oem halogens or just get the upgraded silvanias (youll have better light output that way)
If you just want the xenon look and willing to sacrifice function over looks, then K7 aftermarket HID kit is the way to go...

I am sure this has been solved somewhere, but has anyone confirmed which knob it is for adjusting up/down for our heaadlights, is it the one right on top of our headlight with a white screwdriver design?

I just threw the 55w DDM kit on mine and had a similar issue. It turned out that I didnt have the bulb in correctly.
Try moving the bulb around in the socket while the headlights are on and pointed against a wall. I did that to get everything properly aligned and it is all good now.

I had my 35w 6000k DDM HID kit installed two days ago, and yesterday I noticed this same dark spot.
Here's a picture of the light pattern against my garage door:

It's really bugging me. Has anybody fixed it?

that looks horrible... again, the problem isn't with the HID, but because you have a halogen projector lens on the car. check out my signature, if you really want it done right...
pretty much, anything short of a retrofit, you will get the output pattern that you are getting. for my car, i had it retrofitted with a honda S2000 lens and a true D2S projector bulb
