OT: Cops clock man driving 137 mph in '93 Honda Civic
I didn't think even the Si versions back then could do much over 100. Somehow I don't think the window tint was his only mod.
GREENVILLE, N.Y. – State police have ticketed an upstate New York man for driving more than twice the 65-mph speed limit on an interstate highway. Troopers said a 21-year-old man was clocked doing 137 mph on Interstate 84 in Orange County on Tuesday. He was pulled over in the westbound lanes near Exit 2 in the town of Greenville, on the New Jersey border 60 miles northwest of New York City.
Troopers said the man was driving a 1993 Honda Civic.
The man was ticketed for speeding, reckless driving and having vehicle windows with illegal tint.

theres a lot of mods that can be done to honda's, civic's in general. My old 93 si, stock maxed out at 125, and thats stock with no mods at all. Nowadays u can swap your motor out for a bigger motor from an acura gsr, type r, preludes, even the new k20 motor found in rsx, tsx, can be swapped into your civic.

I owned a 1993 Acura Integra GS 5/speed in college. Car was mostly stock except for an 1.5" drop on H&R springs & sways. That car would cruise at 125 all day if you wanted and on more than one instance I got it past 140. That model Integra was essentially a Civic with a different body. Most cars sold in the US are electronically limited, if cars weren't limited I would be willing to bet even the slowest new car sold today could easily do over 130. Honda's in the 1990's had fuel cuts at redline but no top speed limiters so I totally beilieve it.
