Differences between 08 and 09 MM

Is there any difference between the 08 and the 09 MM besides the 40 gig HDD?

Bokx_350 02-22-2009 01:08 PM

Anyone?

You should find a few old threads for this topic:

I did check those threads, they talk about other stuff, not the MM system. I'm interested in knowing if there are any differences in the MM (COMAND) system from 08 to 09, besides the HDD size. I need to know cause I currently have the option of purchasing either one to retrofit my non-MM:

The 08 has a 6 DVD changer, and it is selling for $1800,
The 09 has a single DVD, but larger HDD, and it has a lower price, $1600.

What do you think?

It is right to asume that the 08 has been used more than the 09, I dont know if Ishould also consider this. Oh, and they were built in 07 and 08.

What do you think?

My 09 C220 CDI MM has 6 DVDs (as an option) and I think there are no other differences beside the HDD.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will go with the 08 that has the 6 dvd changer. It appears that in Europe you can get COMAND with a single dvd.

Every new car with a six stacker i have owned (about 3) have been loaded with the six cd's and there they have remained. I also did this with my Bose household system except i think there were nine and they are still in there.

I would get the single with the bigger HD then load thousands more songs on just in case you dont have a ipod integrated system

cheers

I agree 100% with you, the cds will be pretty much useless once I get the ipod and usb media interface. However, the fact that these are not cds but DVD, meaning I can have a couple of cool videos for when people are waiting in the car makes me lean towards the changer.

But your point is valid, and changers tend to fail quite often.

So did I until I found out that the system plays surround music (DTS-Audio) only from CD/DVDs. This has meant that I still use the CD changer to keep DTS-Audio discs in addition to the PCMCIA & HDD.:nix:

Not only that - you can't rip audio from a DVD-A disc to the music register anyway - there is no REC menu item when playing a DVD-A like there is when playing a regular CD.

FALSE.

09 MM has 6-disc cd/dvd changer as mine does.

We are talking about Europe units that are sold on ebay.uk/de and they DO come with a single DVD:

False=if US Spec

My appologies for the miscommunication; however, In your OP there was no mention of euro spec & presumed you were referencing US as you are in Mass. I see that you found out of the us/euro diff as of post 9 - may have initially overlooked that post

woedee

In Europe the 09 still has a single DVD, but larger HDD, and it has a lower price too.

Mr Enigma 04-05-2009 06:25 PM

MB UK says the 2009 COMAND system has a 6-disc DVD changer and a 6GB HDD. So I assume the US get bigger HDDs?

kremou 04-05-2009 06:30 PM

Maybe depends on market for cost.

sameer13 04-05-2009 06:36 PM

I am in Canada, and my car is 2.2 production. Mine came with 6dvd/changer and 6 gb of hard drive. Where is the 40 gb of hard drive?

coolvi 04-06-2009 12:16 AM

40GB hard drive is reserved for system and navigation with 4GB user accessible space which is a.k.a. as the internal MP3 storage.

TRauppius 04-06-2009 05:09 PM

Neat, ...but not the same as Harman Kardon MM

This appears to be nice unit for P1 equipped vehicles, but it makes no mention of the Linguatronic voice command capability, the Harman Kardon electronics in the trunk, and the major change to speaker archtitecture that comes as part of the full MM package.
