Wheel locks are deterrents to amateur thieves, but the ones who know what they're doing will still have your wheels if they want them.

For under $30, I'm OK with the deterrent factor.

For those interested, MB sells their OEM locks (which are also made by McGard) for 4 times the price.

After what happened to Egonvdv I will be picking up a set this weekend. Though the key would have to be stored somewhere and the thieves could break into the car to find it.

they are easily broken, even if he had them the thireves would still have his rims... best protection is a safe place to park and insurance...and shotgun

Don't have the locks but kinda wish someone would take the stock 17" wheels/tires...of course seeing other forum members cars up on blocks kinda makes me start rethinking that...

there is a wheel lock extractor that it looks like a regular deep socket.

Usually park in garage @ Home. Otherwise @ work so not a big deal but just curious how much time one thinks a professional would take to take off your wheels with a wheel lock vs no wheel lock?

Real pros have battery powered impact wrenchs figure 4 guys will take less than 5 minutes. As tanktube67 said they have an Extractor that looks like a deepwell socket that has metal spring fingers that grip the outside of the lug/stud or the just snap them off take an extra minute or two.

You know what car companies should do... connect an alarm system to the wheel locks, so if they come of without the smart key near the car, the alarm will go off!

If you have a regular key, just unlocking the doors using it would disable the alarm.

Just an idea

i have aftermarket rims and for some reason they only sell the wheel locks in a set of 24 for my size. McGard 27200. You guys think its overkill if i change all my lugs to the wheels locks?

also, the wheel locks are slightly shorter then the current lugs; that's ok right?

Rick Hunter, can you confirm that this link is the right fit for the w204?

I have wheel locks, however somebody told that dealers collect all types of keys, so if a thief is working in dealership, then nothing will help, and usually it is the case because you can easily sell stolen wheels.
