I drove all the way to Geneva...
Overall it was just under 4000Kms and used approximately 4 and a quarter tanks of Diesel, which I think is quite good. We drove at 120Kph for most of the way using cruise control. The only negative point was that near Barcelona a stone hit the windscreen and now I have a 20cm long crack on the passenger side...

Tomorrow I'll have to see what the cost of replacing it will be. Oh well!
Anybody had this happen to them? If so how long to replace it? Is it a few hours or days?
Apart from the windscreen issue the car was magnificent and my friend who drives a Land Rover Discovery was really impressed by it.

The windshield can be changed in a very short time (half an hour or less at a good shop) but since the glass is glued to the body, the car needs to remain steady for a quite long time to let the glue harden properly. I would say a minimum half a day, preferably a full day.

Thanks for your answer.
Is the 204.089 a C320Cdi?
As for the consumption - a tank is 66ltrs so I used approximately 280ltrs so it works out to around 7l/100kms (I think I have worked it out correctly), if I remember correctly that is not far off from the official consumption figures and it gives the car approximately 940kms range on one tank. We drove at legal speed limits (honestly) because we wanted to see what the fuel consumption would be - it was difficult but we suceeded. On the Alpine roads (on the approach from France to Geneva) we were doing 100 to 110kph - whilst it was snowing and still we were being overtaken by smaller two wheel drive cars!!
Also bear in mind that we drove around Geneva for two days and that is also included in the above.

7 litres per 100 km is not bad if you had some good deal of city driving and hilly road sections included.
Your car would have easily outperformed others, specifically those rear wheel driven cars when it was snowing, I'm glad to hear that you were driving carefully, with an MB one can afford driving slower than possible with the car.

I need to pay £50.00 so it was not totally free. The job will take one day so no too bad only that I will miss my car. How will I cope without my baby for a whole 24hrs!!
