Dustless/Ceramic Brake Pads Dangers?

I notice lots of comments re the benifits of dustless /ceramic brake pads lessening the dust on wheels.
My question is whether these pads are compatable with the rotors on the 204C Class ?.
Do they affect:- 1.The stopping ability of the car?
2.The break feel & sensitivity ie harder or softer pedal ?
3. The wear rate of the rotor ?.

How do there dustless pads wear in comparison to the MB originals ?

Why would MB not put these pads on as standard?.

I understood brake rotors & pads were designed to be matched together to give optimum wear or performance depending on the application eg road use or racing.

I would be grateful of some informed answers.

I don't work for these people, but I've been interested in their pads for a while now and might make a move on a set soon. A lot of members here also have had these pads on so I'm sure they'll chime in about it.

Hello Rick,

Thank you for the good information.

Interesting that there has been no personal experiences of these pads posted .

John.

ceramic pads: lower dust, higher temp resistance, harder compound means less mushy brake feel. stopping power improves slightly.

the only down side is it will eat away your rotor slightly faster than regular pads. AND they can squeak at times.

MB or any other manufacturer don't use these pads as standard because they're more expensive.

+1 Frank - The standard pads will drive you all mad. In this day & age I do not understand why the OEMs persist with fitting pads that are such a constant headache to their customers. Price price price!!!

good thing the service bulletin swap out the dusty rear pads on the 204. I think MB had started to switch to a semi hard compound recently as well. the 204 has considerably less dust than my c32's stocks and my sis' 208.
