Details should be in the servicing section of your handbook.I know the 5 speed auto is supposed to be not changed at all but I have been advised by MB Teck to do it at 60,000 km. Citroen did not change the oil in the last model of the C5 & it caused all sorts of grief.

Every 3rd oil change for the 2009 as I recall, so that's every 30K miles.

$400 is an insane price for that, if that's what the dealer charges I'll just do it once to maintain the warranty and not again. I have a VW with 165K miles with the original transmission fluid.

Trans fluid change

Every 39K miles for the life of the car.

And before it comes up, MB hasn't used the term "lifetime fluid" since 2005.

I actually took my car in to the dealership for the 39000 mile service this morning and they ended up calling me back to tell me that the Transmission Flush was also due and quoted me another $525 to do the work. YIKES!!!

Flushing the 7speed is never needed because the torque converter has a drain plug which allows a complete drain of the transmission.

The old 5speed auto did not have a TC drain plug so when the pan was drained, only about half came out. When my W203 reached 39K miles I had the drainable fluid changed and the flush was offered at a huge price so I declined. It was still expensive.

Any service advisor who says you need to flush the 7speed trans is going against MB recommendations and is just hoping for the commission on the job.

So, at each 39K mile point, change the trans fluid & filter. Nothing more.

The transmission in the 2009 is identical to the 2008, yet the 2009 has an "every 30K" change interval as far as I can tell. $500 for that each time is a crazy price.
