Tilting steering wheel

After getting the position of my steering wheel set to my preference, I haven't been changing it.

That does cause some gymnastic scooting under it getting in and out of the car.

Just curious, do you guys release the lock under the steering column and flip the steering wheel up and out of the way when you get in and out?

On my other cars, I've had a stalk next to the steering column that was convenient for releasing the steering wheel to facilitate moving it up. Since the release on the C300 is under the column, I don't know if its suppose to have the same frequent use.

What are you guys doing?

i dont move mine at all. im a creature of habit. once its in place its done. and but then some guy from the carwash with move it and it makes me mad. but i havent had any problems getting in or out of the car with the steering wheel in the position i want it in. as far as the position its all the way down and almost 3/4 of the way pulled toward the driver/me.

09's tilt and telescope up and away from you before you exit and back down once you put the key in the ignition.

Easy but expensive

That feature is called "Easy entry" and was one of the big failure items in the W203. My '01 C320 had more memory modules replaced because of this than I can remember. All warranty.

I don't know if the '09 W204 does this or not but in the W203 the seat also moved back when the key was pulled out and then moved forward when the key was inserted in the 'ignition" again. Which, guess what, wore out the seat track teeth after a few thousand movements resulting in broken track teeth and another warranty repair. And people wonder why the feature disappeared in the US '08s.

If the seat position that is stored in memory is nearly all the way back, it won't move automatically. The dealer described this position as behind the B-pillar.

I am also 6' and like the wheel fully forward so the only real movement in my '01 was tilt which worked part of the time due to memory failure along with right mirror tiltdown.

For this test, you will need to store the temporary position in memory.
