UMI No Sound
Hi all,
It's my first thread.
I just installed Universal Media Interface (UMI), but no sound at all. I can see on the display: the radio, iPod playing songs, etc. I put back the old system, ie without UMI, the sound OK.
I bought it from comandonline.co.uk and already email them. But no reply yet. Anyone can help?

Hi Diesel Benz,
What I meant was no sound at all. iPod, Radio, CD, etc. But it display whatever is being played. But now the problem is SOLVED. I did not move the orange (optical) cable to the new connector. I think I did not get enough instruction on how to install it.

Hi justthinking.
You are right, I don't live in the US. I live in Jakarta, Indonesia.
About the UMI, I'm not done with installation. I only tried the iPod for a while, but it is as I expected. I can not use the GPS over here. GPS is working, but no map for this area. Someone told me it is possible to upload the map. Anyone know is it true?

356SC, I believe you can swap out the map set inside UMI w/ the one corresponding to your region..
However, you might have to get the update file from the dealer and that won't be cheap..
(I think for UMI, you do it via USB drive while with MM you do it via DVD update)
BTW, I am also considering getting UMI retrofitted and I do have one question that hopefully you can help me figure out..
With Audio 20, if I play MP3 file that has tags in Japanese or Chinese, the display will not show the proper character but some scrambled junk, I am wondering with UMI, will the display able to show the correct language like MM would..
If you are willing, I would like to send you a mp3 file w/ Chinese tagging and see what the UMI will display..
