God I hope it is better in person. It does resemble the Kia/Hyundai style but you can tell there is a lot more visual "weight" to it....I hope so anyhow.

coupe looks really good, i think the sedan looks good.
I for one wasn't as much a fan of the rounded old... that was more old people ish...
same with the old C but that was REALLY bad without a bodykit. The E wasn't as bad.
The new one is more sporty

Taking a closer look, you are right. Coincidentally, my subscription copy of Auto motor und Sport from Stuttgart arrived today with a comparison test between a W212 22O CDI, this very model, and the Audi 2.7 TDI and the BMW 520D. The 2.2 oilburner will never come to North America, thankfully.
The performance numbers are not impressive with a 0-62 mph time of 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 142mph. 170hp with a five-speed automatic. Stock tire size is 225/55-16, still using those Conti Contacts. Fuel economy on test was 8.3L/100km.
They did judge that the E-Class had the best seating comfort of the three.

Anyone here from Germany can advise if the new E is now available for rental? I will visit Germany in a month's time, and intend to rent the E Class from Frankfurt Airport (FRA), either from Avis, Hertz, EuropCar, etc. I am attending the High End show in Munich.
