X3 and 2012 C coming soon
The difference is very subtle. Others that I have heard seem to have a high raspy sound. Yours sounds good.

Can you get a few more clips (drive-by, side, rear, interior)?

yup, just as everyone has said, the difference is mostly in the high revs, tho I do notice slight differences from inside once it hits 2k. I really like how the new voice is meaner but subtle, so it doesn't sound like a rice rocket.
I'll try to get more clips, if my frd will let me use his mic again..

just search my youtube under FrankW1029. same stuff.

keep in mind this is 350. the 300 will sound raspy due to smaller displacement pumping through the same exhaust.

Question: How much difference is there when you are driving at normal revs?

I like how quiet the car is when I'm driving around town, but want to hear a little more uumph when I step on it (without sounding like a rice-burner with a 6" exhaust on it).

i hear almost no audible difference... and there is no HP gain...

so you basically just changed it cause you wanted to change it...
that is cool... it looks nice.

Indeed the difference is not huge, which is exactly what I wanted. I never expected a relatively minor mod like this will turn its voice into a C63 or something.

at normal revs, the difference is slightly noticeable, yet i think it still keeps the luxurious quiet feel. Even at high revs, it is still not extremely loud when you're sitting inside. However, if you're standing behind the car or driving through a tunnel or indoors parking lot, it's like a dragon's roar but definitely not like a fat elephant farting into a 6 inch exhaust.

I forgot to mention that when I recorded the sound clip, the mic was placed on the boot. This is partly because my friend wouldn't let me put it right in front of the exhaust, but also since it sounds different at different angles, i thought it would be a good reference point of how it sounds like in general.

I know there has been numerous discussions about this but I still hope my little contribution will help.

I think OP's recording method is better. Hence, the low tones being represented.

the sound from his clip is actually higher than reality since it's placed on top of the trunk.

Whatever. It sounds good and wasn't recorded with a phone or camera. I don't think half of a liter is going to make an audible difference. It would be nice to have a side-by-side comparison though.

unless you have one of those giant mic for recording purpose. it doesn't really matter. by your saying all the videos on youtube should be regarded as useless than. all recent digital camera has very good mic for general purpose use.

do you have a 300 or a 350 that's why you are worried about the raspy sound?

this HD video of the 300 side by side is the best there is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_xBQ...eature=related

also half a liter makes a lot of difference in sound. you can search Eisenmann exhaust videos on youtube which you can definitely tell the difference between the C240 and the C320.

where are you guys getting these x-pipes?custom?...and do you think headers+x-pipe+exhaust+tune would be a worthwhile combo(meaning x-pipe would actually have some value other than changing the sound alil)

I did use a semi-professional recording mic to record this. I wanted to get the best sound, since thats what this whole mod's for. just trying to do something new so fellow forum members can have a better idea how it sounds like. =]
bear in mind youtube also cuts the quality.

but I am curious to see a c350/300 side by side x-pipe comparison clip too.. I wonder whats the difference..

Actually smoothed out the sound and in essence made it quieter or less throatier.
