Long trip - short report
Hi all,
Just to let you all know how was my Easter's 1200 KM round-trip with my MB.
First, the seats. Ironically, I lost that back pain that I used to have when driving my Volvo V70 over similar distances. I say ironically since it's a well know fact that Volvo advertises their seats as the best in the industry because of all the R&D they put into them. While the Mercedes seats lack a bit of lateral support and are, at first glance/seat, not hugely "welcoming", at long run, they work. So, a big plus in this aspect.
Had my first gremlin concerning electronics, more specifically, the COMMAND NAV unit. On the way back, we're listening to a music CD while having the screen on the NAV when, all of the sudden, the music stopped and COMMAND rebooted. When it came back, on the NAV screen, the car didn't know where it was until it froze and reboot again. This happened a third time until I decided to interrupt the planned itinerary and recalculate it again. After that, no more problems. That remembers me to check the SYSTEM menus to see if this thing was logged in the errors messages log...
On the whole, very happy with the car. Fells as solid at the first day and the diesel engine is worth the car alone.

Thank you for your report. . I like my seats also on long trips. You did not mention the fuel economy .

Yes, fuel economy.
Don't remember it by heart but around 7.5 L /100 KM keeping it at a cruise control speed of 140 KM as much as possible. Had a theoretical range of a 1000 KM with a full tank.
Trip was from Belgium to Northern Italy through Luxembourg, France and Switzerland so a mix of straights and mountains.

god i'm jealous that you were able to take a driving trip through those areas...
i'm originally from France and I miss the traveling opportunities that the countryside provides...
