C or S setting in 4Matic.

My C3000 luxury doesn't seem stiffer in Sport (S) mode. The tranny does hold rpm's higher before advancing to the next gear and downshifts a little quicker too like a few others members has said. BUT, IMHO the main benefit to being in the sport mode is that the tranny starts out in first gear for better launches from a dead stop, unlike the C mode that starts out in second gear, better for snow and rainy surfaces. Just my couple of cents (now 10 cents with inflation) heh heh. Carry on.

I think you got it right, at least I agree with you on the modes. But the car should not feel stiffer when the S-mode only controls the tranny.

It amazes me how many C buyers think C/S affects the suspension.

Get Advanced Agility Control if you want the active dampers. C & S are only transmission profile controls.

The adjustable suspension (ie, Sport button under the audio system) is not available in 4Matics, only in RWD Sport models.
All we get is the C/S switch on the tranny console, which only changes the tranny shift program for more sporty performance. In S, the tranny starts in first instead of in second, and it will hold gears to higher RPM's for better performance.

It should be N and C, not S and C.

Benz manual (for GLK at least) says S is the most driving situations. C is for comfort.

Since I'm still in break-in mode, I haven't used S yet on my car, but when I tried it during my test drive of a 4Matic I didn't feel any difference between C and S in the suspension, only in the tranny. On the RWD Sport test drive, however, the Sport button did make a noticeable difference in suspension stiffness (and also kicks in the Sport program on the transmission)

I keep it in Comfort during the winter and switch between S/C in the summer. S starts in first gear for quicker pickup from standing starts and holds the gears for longer -- but fuel economy suffers.
