If they had not offered this car with a manual, I would not have purchased a Benz. I like everything about it, but that was my deciding factor. I am not a kid, but I am a bit immature. And I especially like to control my car.
Oh, check the threads on the C300 manual and C350 dyno runs for kicks.

its not even about racing. talking about buying manual in a evo or sti they cost about the same price as a c300 or more. but for that price you get a mercedes and have manual for fun of it. evo engine sure burn out fast and dont last long. why not spend your money for something good? maybe some people like driving manual more then auto.

I still having a hard time getting why you'd want to be OUT of "control" on a city street or wherever.
You can separate people into two groups in this issue. Those who want as little required input in the process of driving as possible, and those who enjoy being active in the usual ways a manual trans allows.
This type of thread comes up from time to time. In the last one I described driving an auto trans as being half anesthetized in getting to wherever you are going. I still see it that way.
Think about it this way: what's the current next step beyond an auto trans? A chauffeur? Not bad, but that wouldn't be driving, would it.

It's all good. The 204 community is pretty friendly, but we like to poke fun sometimes (all harmless humor).
next to the 203 community, the 204s are I'd think the most active and helpful, but that's also why gtfo comments are generally frowned upon. Don't need to drama or exclusivity entitlement here
and yeah.....rush hour on the 405 by LAX 5 days a week, the lure of manual diminishes. I'll go manual on my weekend fun car.

Has anyone seen MBUSA's official sales figures regarding C350, C300 Auto and C300 Manual. I would be interested in taking a look if anyone knows where they can be found.

i'm sure the C300 manual is in the 1%-2% range..
in speaking with the fleet manager of one mbz dealership, they stated that they only sold a couple per year.

sorry but u have no idea what your talking about , as for engines that engine in the evo before the X came out has been used, tried and tested for nine generations with hundreds of differnt mods and setups, the engine in the evo is an amazing engine which is why it lasted as long as it did, if they burned out it was most likely due to the stupid driver/owner of the car that pushed it too hard and blew out the engine themselves because of sheer stupidity, evo or sti vs a merk is like apples and oranges, the merk is a LUXURY CAR while the evo or sti is race/type rally performance car, yeah they cost about the same but u getting totalty different things, if you like manual thats fine, in my opinon i love manual more than auto but it really depends on the car which is why i got auto in a LUXURY car, if i got a sports car then yeah go manual but lets face it the merk is a LUXURY car, has no real preformance type parts and isnt ment for that, its a nice smooth LUXURY car with a great name, which to me sounds like exactly what u were looking for but wanted to be "cool" and drive stick, if its not then ur daddy bought u the wrong car for u. You will probably realize this when u get a little older and have driven stick longer.

Maybe the guys that wait for the second year crop (wait to see if there are known major problems) are the types that want a stick?

Man I do miss my manual.
I've only owned manual cars in the past. I still have my jeep, but had to get an automatic C300 because my wife can't drive a manual worth a $h*t. If she ever needed to use it for whatever reason, she wouldn't be able to drive it....
But man I wish I did get the manual...
