i wouldnt go with windex, never know what the amonia might do, i mean should be safe but i just use a microfiber towel and water, does the trick every time and gives me peace of mind, but up to u just my .02 cents.
On W211 section, someone use Windex to clean the NAVI screen causing some permanent scratch on the screen (screen had to be replace). I used water with the microfiber towel. It's squeaky clean (I had "display clean" solution (no amonia or alcohol) to clean my flat screen TV & computer monitor but water is the best, when using the microfber towel).

i dont see how windex can cause a scratch, it sounds more like the towel they used scratched it.
yes but windex is bad due to the ammonia in it which is a chemical that will dye ur tinted window if used for long periods of time.
Sound like the OP got something on the screen that won't come off with just water. Could be from the factory or when the dealer got possession.
I'd go with windex and after its clean, use plain water to get any remaining ammonia off.

I use Meguiar's Quik Detailer Interior and it works wonders. I even use it on the MB-tex.
An alternative solution if you want to use Windex is getting the "green" bottle of Windex specifically made without ammonia intended for automobiles. I think I got mine from Wal-Mart.
And always use a microfiber cloth.
