Ipod/MP3 Media Interface = Bad News

Cool Ipod/MP3 Media Interface = Bad News
Just got off the phone this afternoon with the tec at MB HQ in New Jersey and they said that the UCI (Universal Consumer Interface) AKA ipod/mp3 media interface will work with older models upto 08. All w204 chasis with new Multimedia interface but they calculated the price of the adapter and hours of labor and figured it was too expensive to offer. So they will not offer it as an independent accesory. Factory installation only, which is BS since the old ipod interface takes the same time to install. I say offer it and let the public decide.

So are you saying the 08 models can be upgraded?
Is this the 300~400dollar option one?

Yes the new interface will work, but Mercedes will not offer it.

MB W204, VW Polo, Audi R8 V10 - SOLD.
The UCI is available in the UK as a retrofit option by MB. I spoke to the parts team before ordering my car about it and they said it was available.

Correct. Sorry I meant the UCI rather than UMI - It's available in the UK as a retrofit from MB.
