with that aftermarket setup is the car going to lose power or just not gain any power because of the hot air?

It could lose power when hot, for sure.

drove around for a week without the filters in. Better top end, and the car resonates at the higher rpms + added growl and volume. (Best bet is to get K&N drop in filters..) but driving without them was just an experiment for me, and in my opinion it made a lot of difference, I think gas mileage improved too.

Stock it's pretty sporty and loud already, but you might realize that it's way louder outside the car as compared to inside (perhaps good noise insulation?). My friend drove my car off and I got to hear the stock exhaust from the outside and I smiled. It was great lol

In my opinion try to get a specific sound from an air intake is just stupid. For one we drive a mercedes not a honda civic. I would rather keep it the way it is and add some hi-flow air filters. But those really don't add much power anyways maybe 1-4 hp, 1-4 tq at the top of the rpm's. If you want real power custom modify your airbox through a tuning company.

As the OP on this thread I am just not crazy about the sound of this engine at the higher rpm's.

I am not looking to make the car quicker or sound like a tuned vehicle but more to just change the stock sound and hope for something less 'sewing machine' like.

Anyway enough time has passed I am used to the sound and while I still would consider an intake I am not as inclined to make the change as I was when starting this thread.

Please tell me you didn't actually drive around with nothing filtering your intake air for an entire week!

They're just 3 inch intakes... I had an extra pipe and boot. I ordered the intake (filter) from eBay just because they were cheaper. Or if you Want, you can always but a k&n filter and mount it.
