probably because they wanted to keep the cost of the car down and keep it reasonable enought for consumers to buy, also if u notice lexus has awd on the 250 but not the 350, granted its a v8 so imo i would say so it stays under $40k.

unfortunately the IS350 is only a v6.

also.. i think the point is that if Canadians can afford the 350 4matic.. why can't the Americans? LOL

Both very good points, but considering that BMW and Audi offer AWD sedans with bigger engines its disadvantageous for MB to deny us the opportunity to buy their higher-power offering.

At the very least they should retune the ECU on both engines to produce more power or something. They did it for the SLK350 after all and that produces 300hp now.

I seemed to have got my C350 with everything except MM package for less then many paid for their C300 so it was a no brainer. I drove both and there was a pretty noticable difference in performance between the two. The C350 still needs a lot more hp and torque to really be a "sport sedan" imo.

I'm sorry. I meant the the manual car weighs a bit less. Funny, the C300 does weigh about 30 lbs less when both have autos. Maybe it's due to the standard equipment on the base models of both cars.

Anyway, I disagree with people who say sportscars have to have a lot of hp and tq.

2008 c350
as dumb as this may sounds, i bought the c350 just for the sake of the birds eye maple trim, i didn't care for the bigger engine. i don't drive fast and have a track car to go fast in already.

I wanted the additional power and didn't care much about any options. That's why I got a base model 350 with 18" AMG's. When I drive a 300 loaner I miss the additional hp and torque. It's very noticeable.

Honestly, tired of seeing the C300 everywhere in Chicago. Got an '08 C350, MM, Pano, IPod, C.P.O (was dealer demo w/5900mi.) to replace our barely used 2 cars. $31k
