iPhone 3G S - Contacts / Voice Command
Hi,
this is a follow on from the post by Boltsfan though I wasnt sure if i would get any response if i posted in that thread. I was about to get a new iphone 3G but will hold off until the S arrives now.
Any body have any ideas on the following:
i. will the iphone 3G S require a download patch to the comand unit
ii. utilising the voice comand of the iphone (and not the comand unit) can i use it with the comand (this would mean i would not need to get my contacts list into the comand HU.

i don't think anyone knows yet if there will be a patch needed, but my money says no.
as for voice control on the unit, I don't really think this will integrate with the iphone, but you could probably certainly use the handset VC and have it paired with the MM, and that would probably work.
but again, we won't really know till 6/17. I will have one soon, so I can test it out first day.

Unfortunately, you may be right...a bit too much to ask to have a 2008/09 MB and a 2009 iPhone sync contacts via bluetooth...

3G S AND MB BLUETOOTH
I have a '07 CLS 550 with a bluetooth cradle and it syncs with my new iPhone 3G S no problem, commmand center has my contacts and every thing seems to work fine.

Not sure if the new 3GS will sync data via Bluetooth. I know Apple added some more feature in the 3GS and 3.0 O\S update but I have not tried to sync iPhone contacts since I installed the new update.
The only easy option I found was to use my Blackberry to sync my contacts with my C300. With the BB you can sync your entire address book in one step. Then I just de-authorized my BB from the car and authorized my iPhone.

Well...I haven't gotten my 3GS to sync over bluetooth but I did get my dealership to upgrade my iPod integration kit to the "black tipped" connector so that it now charges my 3GS when the older "white tipped" connector would not...they did it for free...my SA (Jeff Smith) at Hoehn Mercedes in Carlsbad ROCKS!. HE also did my brake pad upgrade after 12000 miles as well.

I'm about to pass on an otherwise great C300 because the iphone solution seems so clunky. I don't have anything in my current car so any solution would be an improvement. But I think the best solution for the cars I like appears to be the BMW. A more expensive car by the way. Am I taking this iphone thing too far? Changing my car selection based on how it incorporates the iphone?

sync the iPhone to your pc or mac. Then copy either all or just the contacts you want to the memory card (sd) or whatever you want.
Then insert the card into the mm and you can copy to mm package like that.

08 09 CLS550 Bluetooth and iPhone solutions
Had the 08, it needed an upgraded Bluetooth puck to work. Still have it for any takers. You need the puck with HW version 0706 and SW version 1007 3G and 3GS worked
Now 09, amazingly it downloaded the address book with the updated Navi/Bluetooth with zero effort.
