Thanks Glyn, I love the schematics.
If I have issues again I will just print the schematic, walk in, point to the bushings and tell them "I would like a couple of these installed under warranty. No questions please."

I've noticed a bit of a popping noise when turning slowly into a parking spot especially on a slope. I'm wondering if this is my problem.

So that's what that noise is when I turn the wheel full either direction. I thought it was weird but considered that it was the suspension creaking due to being much lower than oem. I'll have to take a look at my bearings next time I'm under the car. Is there an aftermarket solution to this? Maybe a longer/adjustable arm?

So the cluntching noise is still on my car and I noticed it that it only makes the noise when i leave the car parked overnight and is cold and I turn it on the next day and I turn the steering wheel left or right and im reversing or going forward out of a spot or my driveway. So I went and asked my private mechanic today before I take my car to mercedes today and leave it overnight so they can here the noise tomorrow morning when is cold. So my private mechanic heard the noise this morning and told me that the part that needs to be changed is the Rack and Pinion steering gear, have you guys heard about this problem with our cars. Please if you guys can let me know more about this or what else it could possibly be the noise and since I have H&R sport springs could that have cause this problem. My mechanic said that the rack and pinion steering gear going bad could not have been cause by the springs. Guys I would appreciate your help.

2012 C200 CGI
after seeing this and another thread, I've had this problem fixed on my 2012 c200 CGI. Initially the noise started about 2 weeks after I had H&R sport springs installed at approx. 10,000km on the speedo. Taking it to the dealership they ignored the problem and said it was caused by a damaged strut bearing during my lowering spring install. Then I switched to another dealership and directly told them to replace the thrust arm bushing and voila, noise/problem solved. That was 1.5 years / 25,000 kms ago. Fast forward 1.5 years and I've had these bushings replaced 4 times. FOUR TIMES!!!! I mean come on... what is with the design of these things, even though it's under warranty it's pretty ridiculous. The car would be perfect without noise after the replacement, then about 2 weeks later, the creaking would start when parked and the steering is turned full lock, another 2 months and the wheel would shudder while breaking on uneven or bumpy roads feeling like I'm driving a car with wobbly wooden carriage wheels.

BMWs have this problem as well since their bushing design is similar to that of MB which are both manufactured by lemforder or trw. However Meyle makes an upgraded "Heavy Duty" version of the bushing where the internals are solid rubber and not liquid filled. They also have aftermarket polyurethane replacements. Unfortunately I've not been able to find any manufacturers that make these for our cars.

I'm really getting sick of getting these things replaced every 3000-5000kms. Thinking of selling the car for a lexus

When I still owned my C240 W203 they replaced the castor bearings/bushes very early under warranty & the redesigned bushes have been fine ever since. The car is still immaculate & owned by a friend & 11 years later they are still fine.

Lowering the car is probably making the bushes operate outside their design parameters.

First silicone filled bushes cracked but not far enough to leak.

don't know, maybe the new ones are poorer quality than the previous. Are there any aftermarkets that are made completely of rubber without being oil filled like they have for BMWs?
