I don't even see them on your car.

I have a CLS, but had the same question. I got clear, be different. So many are doing black now.

I think I'm gonna do clear if I do them at all because my other lights are clear... I'm trying to keep them uniform. Too many people are getting different color lights for all their different lights and it doesn't look great. I don't have xenons so I need to keep all my lights stock... including eyelids and fog lights... But if I got clear side markers they would match the natural light of the others, right?

When are the sidemarkers even on?

Go with the clear. Unless you are doing black tints and black wheels and black grille....

you'll probably want to swap out the original bulbs to something like polarg super whites as stock bulb is more pale yellow and won't match anything.

And there are lots of people who've blacked out their sidemarkers on black cars.

Turning signal is when they are on. I think would work well, I will be getting clear myself.

While yes many have blacked them out, that's the exact reason I chose clear. So many are doing it.

I painted my black and cover the bulbs with foiled paper.

Just a reminder....

...that sidemarker lights are mandated by Federal regulation. While it depends on your jurisdiction, you may be fined and/or fail inspection if you don't have the proper sidemarkers.

This is no meant to start a debate but is intended just to advise you of what the law says. While there will probably be lots of posts with "I've removed mine and have had no problems - do it," they won't pay your fines. They also can't speak to your circumstances.

PA for example, will fail you for no sidemarkers while other states don't seem to check...

So if I leave the current bulbs and put a clear marker, then the light won't match my other stock lights i have on my car? I don't have any xenons nor any mods.

Also, how do you put the new side marker on/off?

You can see how well it matches and if it's "good enough" of a match in your eyes.

As for how to put them on and off. Do a search. This has been covered numerous times with DIY and pictures posted.

Since you car is black, I would say paint them same color, unless you like the look.

So what if everyone is doing it? It is just a small mod. Everyone is trying to get rid of them and if painting them black is the best way, then so be it. I personally have them clear (white car), but after seeing soldiers' pic above, it seems very well hidden on black car.

I tried searching again with no luck... what are they called? "Side markers" "Side reflectors"?

also, does anyone have a good experience with a certain set or seller they purchased from?

Lights will never match with clears so, I got clears first then didn't like it and ended up painting the orange reflectors silver. Also painted the light.

I installed clear ones on my black C300. Got them from fishcakes on ebay.

I like 'em.... but it is a personal preference.
