Driving style, the motor in general and it's fuel useage, YOUR particular motor and where it is in the break-in period, the gas itself (octane content), stop-and-go vs straight stretch, and all those variables that were spoken of in the dyno argu...., uh, dyno discussion, like the altitude of your location, ambient temperature, etc. All of this affects your milage, every day, so while the computer averages and displays that average on the gauge, the actual mileage at any one time can be really different from days or months before.

An average ain't reality. But it's nice to have some sort of way of putting a number on the situation.

I've been getting a combined 19 or so. However, today I drove to Palm Springs and back from coastal Orange County (270 miles) and got 26.

This "thread" has appeared many times on the W204 forum.

I'm still getting about 28.5 combined, and anywhere up to 32 hwy when I can maintain it.

It's not hard to get 27+ mpg, but ...
- long runs of road without (a) hills, (b) stops, (c) drivers turning ahead of you
- ambient temps near 68 F
- consistent use of the gas pedal
- avoiding rapid starts and stops

I can get up to 27 on a trip without ever going above 50 mph. Mostly at about 35-45 mph. How? As said, long consistent runs.

City travel stopping at each block, is very bad for these cars.

20.0 for miles 239 - 512. First 239 miles not so good - lots of time with engine running but car in park as we learned how play with all the toys in the MM package.

09 C350 w/18" Rims: I'm getting 27-29MPG on the freeway (mostly flat with some dips and inclines) over a 10 mile stretch. City driving tends to net me between 18-21MPG IF I'm not a lead foot.

I think it's the combo of your driving style/conditions plus the low low mileage

My car was at 15 for the first 250 miles

Should start increasing, esp after 1000 mile oil change (some people recommend 500m?) hopefully, anyway
Enjoy
should i change my oil at 1000 mile? my stealer recommended i change my oil at 10,000 mile or 1 year after purchase.. is it possible for oil last this long? I drive normal with occasional 4500rpm.. never rev over 5k... my mpg has come up a bit.. now its about 19mpg..

No, you should not change at 1000 miles. Your dealer's recommendation is correct. Your fuel economy is normal.

i get between 16-18 miles a gallon all city driving.

when i take fwy trips i'm surprised but i get around 26 or better. such a huge difference between street and fwy on this car as far as gas is concerned. at least amongst cars that i have owned.

11.2 L/100km over 19000 km. 60% highway / 40% city. Moderate driving. Economy is about 15% worse in the winter months thanks to higher idle and poorer gas quality (more additives for anti-freezing).

-- I love how these MPG postings always come up in the summer months when gas is more expensive.

2000 S430
Post Question on SLK's milage

My husband says why worry if you can afford the car -don't worry about the mileage but I do!! This is to be my toy car I'll use in town as I seldom take more than a 200 mile trip driving.
I have a 2000 S430 that gets good mileage. Am in the market for a gently used SKL
Found this site while looking for info on SKL. I have been on eBay and found several I like.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
