gets me from point A-B
Sorry guys,

i wasn't attacking the c-class, i personally love it and plan on having one but I was surprised that the a4's 2.0t can even manage to break 7 seconds, let alone tie the C350. And another thing that i was confused about, which is kinda stopping me from considering the C is this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlBdz...eature=related

Couple Questions....

1) No Torque, No acceleration?? wtf the C300 is the 2nd torqueiest car in its class, next to the A4...faster than the 328i

2) Too heavy, too much body roll?? is it really the heaviest car in the class, and how could it be mushy around turns, unless if they used the luxury, then it makes sense. I thought the A4 was heaviest, considering its the biggest...

3) Boring, Slow to control, Steering wheel too big?? i think these guys are just benz haters...

Wat do u guys think???

You can find lots of different reviews online favouring the competition... find me one that says that the B8 is the best in the class and I will find you ten that say it is not. That's the Internet for you.

A few things I would note from the video link:

(1) Title of the video implies that it's an even hosted to showcase the Audi A4
(2) They were using the W204 luxury model
(3) These seem to be "ordinary" folks giving their opinion

Based on these observations:

(1) Do you believe in marketing?
(2) Are you considering the luxury model?
(3) Are you going to base your car buying upon other people's opinions?

Drive the cars. Conclude based on your experience which one you like best. Enjoy your new car.

All of the competition in the class are great cars which I have no problem living with. For me, my preference is the C-class.

you don't accelerate with HP. you accelerate with torque. HP is more important up top.

I bought my C350 in March, getting rid of an IS300 manual, which was fast with 215hp/218t. I looked at A4's and A6's, especially with the redesigned body styling - even tried to test drive one of each at the dealership. So in the end, I went with the MB - and couldn't be happier. I get to drive it maybe once a week, and when I do, I honestly drive it like a jerk. I have never been disappointed with its jump off the line, its 60-100mph acc., and definitely not the ride. I would never buy another brand again

A few different ones
I think the C350 needs more horsepower, no arguing that point BTW so does the A4 (both 2.0 & 3.2) ... I had the 335i and the biggest thing I miss is the power of those twin turbo's. BMW defnitely kicks a** in that department ... wake up MB and Audi ...

As far as the C350 compared to the A4, I think they are very similiar cars. A few tenth's of a second here and there is not going to make any difference in real world driving ... both cars feel good though the reason I know I went with the C350 when making my decision last month was I really love the style of the C class. I think the new A4 when fitted with the Sports package with the nice wheels (I think it is the S-line) looks great as well but I am not crazy about the droopy rear end and most of the cars the Audi dealers had in stock had the small (not quite that good looking) wheels.

One strange thing, when I test drove the 09 A4 2.0 I didn't think it felt as quick as the C350 but I guess either that vehicle was too green, the test vehicle quoted was quicker then most or I am just plain wrong

What do you mean by ordinary folks?

1) I somewhat believe in marketing
2) Test drove the luxury...never again...C350 sport or C63 AMG
3) I usually don't base it on people's opinions, but wen its a luxury car, then yes...kinda. I dont want to be driving a car that everyone will clown on

1. 0-60 means nothing
2. The audi has a turbo & 4 wheel drive which really helps for a 0-60 run
3. I do agree the c350 needs more power, but also remember the car is underrated.
4. There's no skill involved to blasting of the line with a turbocharged 4 wheel drive car- You just brake torque to 3000 rpm's and blast off. c'mon my grandma can do that. And ok he might get up to sixy faster but then what. All I gotta say is good luck.
5. I test drove the audi a4 and all I can say is BORING.

How about the fact that nobody at C&D has ever been able to launch a car at the drag strip better then my aunt Betty.

Who cares. C350 Elegance is a wonderful vehicle & will way outlive it's rivals. They will be on the scrap heap.

From personal experience... (This is my opinion. I am NOT bashing one or the other. I really enjoy driving both.)

I have an 08 A4 2.0t, S-Line, etc. and an 09 C300 4matic. The Audi *feels* quicker than the C300 and is better equipped at a lower cost.

Things I HATE about the C.
1. No folding rear seats without the P2 package? Come on... a Kia has folding rear seats.
2. No paddle shifts. If you try controlling gears the response time is horribly slow.
3. Door pins... need i say more?
4. The retarded 5 inch screen that is surrounded by 6 inches of plastic in non MM cars.
5. Sport mode doesn't do a lot compared to the A4. Drive both and you will know what I mean.

Things I hate about the A4 (08)...
1. the RED display on everything. It looks cheap. To get color you have to go to the 3.2 or S/RS 4.
2. Even with the sport suspension.. the wheel well gap.

Things I hate about the 09 A4...
1. Everything.

I participated in a "beat up an 09 A4 on the track day" before the 09's launched. They have A LOT of body roll when you start pushing them. I could write a book on reasons I do not like the 09 A4 after the track day... which is the reason I bought the C300. I am really hoping Audi addresses some of the issues when the B8 S4 and RS4 release and mature.

From a dealership perspective.. Audi has always treated us MUCH better than MB. The sales / F&I guys at the local MB dealer are complete idiots. I would walk before going back to that dealership for a car. We do have another dealership about 20 miles or so away but it is also an extra 1% sales tax in that county.

By default I am an Audi guy. I normally like their styling and have not had any issues with an Audi that I have owned. To me, Audi is a better all around car for our lifestyle and geographic area. Quattro is a very proven AWD system that has gotten me through some pretty bad weather in the snow belt / mountain regions of northern PA. M3 vs C63 vs RS4... I will take the RS4 over the others any day of the week. It may not be the fastest of the group but I can drive it any time I want, in any weather conditions.

I don't get it?? Most of the reviews I have read says the 2.0 A4 goes to 60 in 6.7-6.9. Don't know how they got 5.7?? Either way, it doesn't make a difference..they are both nice cars. As far as looks, thats subjective. I definitely like the Audi's LED DRL's!

Your vehicle sales tax is based on your address and not the dealers address.

That is what logic dictates but apparently isn't how it is here. I guess you pay for the *privilege* of buying anything in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh PA). I called a few dealers to check on that and all responded that you must pay the additional 1%.

Not to start any conflicts but a stock M3 vs. a stock C63 is a fair race. And no the C63 didn't smoke the M3. Impossible because the M3 is a track car, C63 is straight-line powerhouse. I've driven both and I personally like the Merc. Why? Because for one I ain't looking to go on a track. Two, it has 6.2, 457 hp, V8 that sounds like a beast when you just fire it up. And three I like the fact that it has 148 lbs more TQ compared to the BMW. But there is no way the C63 will ever beat the M3 on a track. Here are three reasons: 1. Too much low-end torque, 2. To tail happy & 3. It's out of control w/o traction control.

I'll have to disagree with you on that one, a C63 can perfectly keep up or beat an M3 at the track.

I'll give you a hint....

Soldier. I'm not saying that the M3 is going to smoke a C63. But, look at it this way. The M3 is lighter, revs higher, has a stick shift. It's easily more controlable than the merc. It doesn't matter if you got the performance package. It still tail happy w/ traction on. And if you turn traction off....you better be awake! Like i said before I would pick the c63 anyday over the m3. But, in a race? c'mon its uncontrolable period.
