2009 C300 Luxury
New C300 Owner, couple of questions...
Posted this up on BenzWorld too, looking for all the help I can...
Hello all, recently (6 days ago) picked up a Black/Grey C300 Luxury with Prem. 1 package. The car is used as a daily driver and I've decided to go VIP with the styling (nothing gaudy, just classy).
My first decision was to remove the chrome on the side of the doors. Typical "goo-gone and fishing line" method worked here and looks absolutely great! But then when I decided to remove the chrome trim and front bumper...then trouble struck. I noticed that the chrome on the front bumper is actually clipped in, put can be popped out with a slight tug (you C300 Sport guys don't have this chrome I don't think), I got about 3 of the 7 clips popped out when the chrome piece cracked in half! I had planned on taking off the chrome, sanding, priming and painting it black but now I have a broken chrome piece on my front bumper. I chose not to pull off anymore trim until I figure out what's going on with it.
At this point I've got a few options:
1) Go to the dealer/service dept. and get a replacement chrome trim to install myself and just live with the cheap (IMO) look of it.
2) Try to get 2 sport bumpers from somewhere and have them installed.
3) Keep trying to pop off the chrome, sand it, prime it and paint it black.
If anyone has any experience/advice in this area it would be greatly appreciated. (also if anyone has advice on removing/repainting chrome window/trunk trim as well) Thanks in advance!

Instead of priming and painting why don't you try black out tape from Trimbrite. It has a satin black look and you could also use it to black out the window chrome.
