2013 C300 Sport Black Darth V3.0
Wish I would have waited for a car with P2 but not to much as I love mine. I drove a few loaners with Pano and didn't really like it, maybe it would grow on me. Now what I really wish I had was 4matic. Drove one in the snow last winter and wasn't afraid of losing the rear like I was in my car. An option I regret getting is the I-pod adaptor I thinkl I've used it for a total of an hour or so since I got the car. Crappy interface I had much better with the HK aftermarket kit I had on my Sebring.

MM not
So..I leased a 2009 C300 and got all the options I wanted...or so I thought. I really didn't think I would need / want the MM, but now I am really wishing I would have gotten it.
Do you think it is worth buying the MM and having it installed, or just wait until my next car and get it then.
I guess if I do it now, the upgrade would be put toward the next car.
Any advice

Since you have leased the car, at the end you will have nothing and will be giving the MM system to the leasing company.

C300 4Matic with 18in AMG's
I thought long and hard about IPOD connection and opted not to go with it in favor of just dumping my mp3's to an HCSD card and utilizing the PCMCIA adapter. I sometimes wondered if I had made the right decision, but am happy to always have my collection in the car on the SD card as opposed to needing to have my IPOD with me. Based on your comments and others comments, I think I made the right decision.

MM beats any portable Nav, hands-down. I didn't get it on my car--wish I had. Definitely made sure MM was an option on the wife's C350.

You can select by playlist, artist, song, album, or genre, scroll up and down through the items or do a random shuffle of the music. If you have an artist that starts with a "W", simply scroll backwards instead of going through the entire thing alphabetically... The sound quality is superb, the interface works well without needing to take your hands off the steering wheel or truly distract yourself much from the road.
Sure, it could have been on the big MM screen display, but you know what -- this solution works yet people say its crap. I have friends who just got Kenwood decks aftermarket with ipod kit and they can only play their playlists and not by artist or any other method --
Perhaps some of you haven't "reveresed" your thinking when using it -- as the up and down arrows function LIKE AN iPOD when using it vs. everything else in the car. For example, when listening to a CD, you hit the up arrow to go up to the next track number.... But when using the iPod, you hit the down arrow to go DOWN to the next track -- just like it is on the iPod screen/display.... Makes sense once you think about it...
Oh yeah, and I regret the leather slightly...

Oh, and don't forget that the better the quality of the MP3s on the iPod, the better the sound quality in the car... I rip almost all of my MP3s at minimum 256k bitrate. I have some "acquired" tracks that are 128k bitrate and I can notice that they sound notably different.
"Garbage in, garbage out" applies well if your using low bitrates in your encoding...

my wife wild, but she loves every minute of it.
I made a similar decision. The Garmin is much better than the factory system, albeit slightly smaller. I also love the way it seamlessly connects to my BB Storm. As far as MP3's go - if you are an audiophile, don't waste your time on any lossy formats.

I wouldn't say I don't like the MM package but you can do just fine without.
I'm going to post a pic of my 2008 Garmin Nuvi with 2010 maps and how it seamlessly fits into the nav slot, I think it looks fantastic and is touch screen versus knob.

I really miss not having the Xenons in the new C300, had it in an older C320. I should have found a car with that package, even though I didn't really care/need the other stuff like split seat, led taillamps, front washers, etc.
But, I miss the way they lit up the night and the way they looked.

Not getting MM option
Probably right about the comparative pricing of factory nav v aftermarket Garmin or some such. To me though the issue is also - where do you install the Garmin? A suction cup on the windscreen? I don't think so! This was always my problem in previous cars - bad plastic brackets stuck in air vents / suction cups - no way anymore for me.
I like my W204 with MM - and the factory DVD player with surround sound Logic 7, Harmon Kardon and HDD is just perfect. And when you leave the car it all just shuts away with no hassle. I got all the options at well discounted prices when the bubble burst last fall - dealers were fighting for the business and the UK government reduced the VAT (sales tax) by 2.5%...!
Just my view.
