2009 MB C300
Buyer's remorse with not getting an option
So..I leased a 2009 C300 and got all the options I wanted...or so I thought. I really didn't think I would need / want the MM, but now I am really wishing I would have gotten it.
Do you think it is worth buying the MM and having it installed, or just wait until my next car and get it then.
I guess if I do it now, the upgrade would be put toward the next car.
Any advice

What part of it do you miss? I intentionally spent $500 on a top of the line Garmin I can take with me instead of $2500 of not quite as great a nav which stays parked in our local airport garage when I travel!

Fellow forum member Vic Viper did a MM retrofit and it looks like there is quite a bit involved in that so it could come out pricey.

So maybe it would be better for you to get it on your next car.

I think having the MM makes a big difference, but I wouldn't spend $3.5K to have it added. Maybe you can go aftermarket with a touch screen or something. Hopefully that would be a lot less.

MM.
I can't believe I didn't get it. I wanted it initially but the instant gratification got the best of me. It's alright though because I would get MM just for screen size and speakers. I ended up getting a great gooseneck charger dock for my iPhone and it's great for the car. Bluetooth integration, audio integration, voice command that's better than the MM one, and I can check my Exchange mail wherever I go.
Pano is a nice option, but I don't really think it's totally necessary.

P2 . . I really love those LED tails and it's a shame I had not known about them prior to leasing the car. I don't really care for the navi, I let my blackberry get me from point A to B when needed, the better sound system would have been nice though.
I'd consider getting the LED tail lights and selling my stock tails but I don't know how long I'll be keeping the car

It was either the P2 option or the MM for me, and I'm glad I got the P2 instead of the MM.
I think it is the better value. The stock stereo is still very decent.
Garmin and Magellan has excellent portable GPS systems that are IMO more intuitive and easier to use and update than the MM for a fraction of the price.

For me it's either panorama roof or 18" AMG wheels, decided to go w/ pano roof because wheels are easy to upgrade but there is no way to add pano roof...
The other touch choice was leather or MB-Tex..was worried about wear & tear for leather seats but love the leather wrapped arm rests & door panels...
I am okay w/ the plastic door panels but may still ended up spending the $$ and have steering wheel, center console cover & arm rests leather wrapped...
As far as MM, I do love the big 7" screen, but can't stand the crappy iPod intergration & lack of live traffic update..
So I decided to get UMI retrofitted and will upgrade the stock speakers to HK speakers..
Final cost should be about $3k which is the same as MM..
BTW..does any know if it's possible to install the 7" screen w/ audio 20 HU?? (paging vic viper... :p)

The MM is great but it's an option that must be purchased when buying the car or its really expensive. For 3,500 you can get a custom touchscreen system installed that will blow the MM system away with full computer capabilities. On a leased vehicle, I wouldnt waste that money though.

The only thing I have really missed is having folding rear seats...didn't want to buy P2 to get them though...

It's a lease...so you're throwing away $3500 on the system...and then giving it BACK to Mercedes when you turn the car.
Lesson learned..next time research the car and options and make sure you know what you want BEFORE you get the car.
I swear we have at least one of these kind of threads a week...it's either the person doesn't like the color, doesn't like the car, or doesn't like th eoptions after they already purchased/leased it. Do people not THINK anymore?

I still like best red M'nMs. But at the dealership they had Toblerones, and I didn't order the M'nMs .
Word of caution to whoever adds a GPS, tactile screens without the MM have to be electronically interfaced.
Bye, JV

Dont waste your money. If you really want it just wait until the lease is up and get it on the next car. I have the premium pack here in Canada and love it but would not add it after the fact.

I didn't like the price, but paid for P2 to get the folding seats. Now I love the bixenons and led tails that I hadn't paid too much attention to and would not have otherwise chosen. All in all, I love the P2 package.

I went with the real leather...pricey, but I generally run my cars 150K miles and decided to go with it...love it.
