C300 Sport
300, 280, 320
Let me preface by saying my C300 (13 months now) was my first Mercedes although my wife has had 3 (CLK320 Cab, SLK300 and currently a CLK350 Cab...
I have seen/heard of Mercedes engine models 300, 280 and 320 (not the diesel models) and I am curious are all of these basically are the same engine?
Thanks for any information...

No. 320 is M112 series, 300 is M272 (successor of M112). Old 280 is M112, while it was changed to M272 in 2004 or so. W204 C300 is called C280 outside north america, but they use the same engine.

They are also renaming 280 to 300 in Europe (and assuming rest of world too). It should have started with orders placed in april/may this year. New price list shows 300 now.
