C300 4Matic with 18in AMG's
This now an option on the 2010 models. I would love this option as well - some brave soul needs to try it!
I see how it plugs in on the picture, but want I don't see is how and where to drill the two holes. Also, how doe one remove the steering wheel to access the socker for the plug?
Gotta have it before it is all said and done.

Malaysia's C230s come standard with paddle shift. The "C>S" button is at the center dash and "M" button is next to gear shift. I think the "M" button activates the software to operate paddle shift. Without the "M" button and software the paddle shift might not work.

M button? a bmw?? =P
i think all Cs have those sockets behind the steering wheel, but since paddle shifters do not exist in the US, the sockets are empty and do not connect to anything and thus wont work unless you wire it yourself to the gearbox. the c63 and the euro Cs will work however, because the shifters are available as an option so the sockets are pre-connected anyway. thats my understanding of wts up with the shifters.

W204 (without advance agility or dynamic handling package) with paddle shifter will have this:
With advance agility package, the above button is marked as "M" (manual shifting program). The "C>S" button is here:

u know i was kidding in my last post =] but this is interesting.. that actually Does seem like a bmw that i've driven before. there was this button on the steering wheel that lets you toggle between normal, S (sport), and M (manual).
so if you try to shift with gear lever or paddles while in C or S, does it not do anything or will it switch to M automatically?

If is not in "M" mode, paddle shift works in restrictive shift range mode.
Anyway paddle shifting in "M mode has terrible lag, more like 1-2 sec shifting response. I have not used it after having the C for 1 week. It makes sense that MB US does not provide this paddle shift option.

S204 C220 CDI, VW Scirocco III 1.4TSI 160
That is incorrect. I have the Sport button but it came with sport suspension iirc? Don't think I have AAC although it does firm up a lot when I press it? I thought AAC was more "auto" and had different settings? And yes, paddleshift is awful. Like in a Smart car with lag... I am more likely to grow a beard in the time it needs to shift

even the c63 lags.. paddle shifters on purely automatic cars are more for fun and maybe convenience. very true that its useless in terms of performance.
paddle shifters are also a trend. its hard for a manufacturer to not have them when all the competitors do.
