Just found out that the lock and unlock buttons on my car key are cracked when my car wouldn't start for 20 minutes. I don't know when this happened. They fixed the EIS or something like that, but the SA told me that MBUSA wouldn't replace the key under warranty, or it's just some BS. The thing is I never used fingernail to press the buttons, not even once. I know that vicviper said that his dealership replaced numerous keys under warranty. I'm gonna call MBUSA and complain.

We have replaced a few of them under warranty, but this is a bit complicated as you cannot mention that the cover has cracked, there is specific damage codes to choose from when claiming warranty from MB and you can chose i.e "elctrical failure" or similar, however this is not completely riskfree as Daimler sometimes want us to send back the old part to them.

This is done only as a service to our customers, it is not easy to explain to a customer who just one year earlier bought a car from us for over $65.000 that their key isnt covered by warranty..

 

Mine cracked about a month ago and my nails are always kept trimmed very short. Have to or I will bite them bad habit.
