Interesting Tire Discovery

I was looking at tires on tirerack just now and I noticed it said the oem tires for the 2009 C300 Sport with 17"s were Pirelli High Performance All-seasons. I KNEW I didn't have Pirellis so I looked up the oem tires for the C300 Luxury, which are Continental ContiPro "touring" tires. I went out to my car and sure enough, that's what I have.

Why would they put "touring all-season" tires on a Sport model sold in TEXAS..thats ridiculous.

I'm guessing this was a mistake? Or did they start putting the lux tires on all models?

I should mention that this makes me happy, not mad..because now I can just imagine how much better my car will feel with ultra high performance summer tires. I'm upgrading to new wheels/tires soon anyway.

They use the cheapest tires they can buy by the trainload. Which is why so many come with those crappy Contis.

Those contis aren't that bad for a general purpose tire - not everyone is looking for a high performance tire. The rain performance is OK, and so is the MPG.

It doesn't rain much here..and I don't care about mpg's..haha.

My car feels very mushy during turns compared to a 3series or G37..I'm hoping this has to do with the soft tires.

dude the Michelins are WORSE! check the ratings of Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 vs. your continental tires on Tirerack... even though everywhere you will ask they will tell you "Michelins are the best" BS... its all about the model of the tires.
