C-Class vs. E-Class
I know i had a post like this before, but i want to let you guys know that I dont want to start a flame war like last time. SO, on that note, I would like to know you're guy's opinions on both cars. Is the C-Class big enough for 4 adults to sit comfortably? Is the E-Class worth the extra money? What are some of the differences you guys noticed from a driving and performance perspective, tech and gadgets perspective, and the "cool" factor that each car possesses?

One looks really good from all angles, sits 4 very comfortably, has a large trunk, gets good fuel economy, has 2 years of proven quality per JDPower and most owner experience....
...and the other is larger.

Unless you mean the 211.....a great car which is a better choice for extra room, if you want it You don't need it for just 4 people.

my brother has the e550 sports and I have the c350 sports.
I definately like the look of the c better than the e. But the E is such a comfortable car. Paddle shifter is a plus, more power is definately a plus, V8 sounds awesome. But the C class command eats the my brother's navi system for breakfast.
Performance the E550 feels definitely better in sense off acceleration. Handling I don't know i haven't had the chance to take both cars on the twisties. But the tq on the E is nice.
i like how the E has memory for the seats, seat coolers, and the parking assist.

My parents have an '09 E350 4Matic with the AMG appearance package. It's a great car. Much nicer interior than the C-class and obviously has more room. Looks great as well.
That said I love my C300. I think it looks just as good as the E. I prefer the MM/Command/Navi in the C-class much better. While my parents E350 is faster than my C300, I prefer the ride in my car. I think the steering and gas/brake pedals are too sensitive...I prefer the stiffer/tighter feel of the C

Go the new E - Drove one today - It's a great car & looks much better in the flesh than in pictures. It's really in a whole different class (no pun intended) to the C. The C is not a true 4 adult car.

Both cars are nice, each has its own.
My brother has an E500. It's a couple of years old with only 17,000 miles on it. He got it for less than half of the original MSRP. I thought it was a good deal. I really like my C better though. As for the W212, I love the coupe. I saw an e550 coupe while getting my car serviced and now I am seriously considering one. It is one of the most attractive cars I have seen in recent years. Sorry. If you don't mind the W211 body style, and it suits your needs better than a C, get one.

The new E handles like a boat. Drove the 350 sedan and the 550 coupe. Both were boats and floated. Disappointed in particular with the 550 coupe as was hoping for something closer to the CLK.

get 5 series... i think it looks better than the E.. Exterior wise at least.. although i hate the 5er's interior. Which models are you looking at? C300? c350? vs E300, 350 and 550. Sounds like you are having a tough choice between a used E vs a new C. I'd go with the 5.. if you want 4 adults, though I went with the c300.. sometimes I wished I got a 550i instead..

Hmm, I was never expecting much from the sedan because the only i like about it is the interior and the technology...the coupe handling like a boat though, even after that fancy commercial they made...disappointing

Yeah, I was kinda disappointed in the E550 coupe also, but I should also mention that was at stock setting. I had some aftermarket stuff in mind as I was test driving it to tighten things up. Has potential...

The new E sedan looks a bit confused, with that 'Pontoon' crease over the rear arches and the Hyundai Sonata rear lights (I spotted that the day it came out - amazing how many other people have, so it must be true). The break which was just officially unveiled looks quite decent though, somehow the rear just works a lot better with some extra volume. They really should have gone the same route they went with the C though, and put the big star grille on the Avantgarde. Improves the look of the car tenfold (sorry to the tradionalists).
Anyway, the C is exactly the same car as the E, except it's (obviously) better looking (very good looking in fact), better handling and quite a bit cheaper. What the E has going for it, is rear leg room, a bigger trunk (not a dealbreaker in Europe where you can get the C estate), better interior finish (no cheapo plastic armrests in any version from what I've seen) and probably better NHV and ride comfort. I guess you get what you pay for, but for anyone below 30 I reckon the C is the more attractive choice...

I just find that the E is very, very similar to the C, much more so than say a BMW 5 series is similar to a 3 series, or an Audi A6 to an Audi A4. It's just a bigger, more comfortable C. Which is good, but also a little bit disappointing. Check the identical instrument cluster, the side-on view from the rear quarters onwards, the general shape of the dashboard (bound to become even more identical after the C gets facelifted to GLK-style integrated satnav), the shape of the (standard) seats and steering wheel, etc. etc. etc.
I realize all manufacturers share a lot of things between their model lines, but between the C and E it's just very blatant (to me). The previous generations looked and felt less alike, I feel.

I know there are plenty of under the hood, electronics and drivetrain differences but the look of the cars is strikingly similar to my eyes...definitely a strong family resemblance at the very least...
Seeing the sleek lines of the E Coupe made me drool at the thought of a new C Coupe...
I looked inside a friend's C230 97 and it looks just like my 07. Now that I have an MB I look at every other stationary one in my path. I think they all look alike in a progressive way. I like MB's willingness to pay homage to earlier models. I saw old pictures in a book about the history of MB. I think the styling carryovers give MB's a lot of class. It's been only 13 months and I'm getting sold on this make of car. I understand that speed, handling, and legroom are important in this thread - this is just my opinion on appearances.
