if you have a password lockk make sure you unlock it then on the navi screen select audio>then go to aux and you should be able to go to whatever song or playlist from the dashoboad but not the naviscreen

i got my ipod nano working, but it seems that I can only play what ever Previously select in my nano.
example. if I have already choose listening to my playlist, the dashboard will only play playlist, and will not allow me to choose a different list or entire list of songs.
i cant figure out how to choose by artis or album etc. it seems that you have to pre select the list u want to play.
and also anyone else notice ipod volume is very low compare to disc and radio?

check the volume ON the ipod itself, make sure its up, and on the dash did you try pressing the "end call" button? that should take you to the Artist, Playlist section.. i had like 3 ipods just in my glove box lol.

just to be sure...
you plug your ipod in, settings normal (as if you were ready to plug in headphones and listen), then you push the 'disc' button twice on the middle of the dash. the screen that displays radio should be mostly blank except for a few words in bottom corners,
then using the steering wheel buttons, scroll over to audio on the little screen on the speedometer. it should display ipod options (playlist, artist, album, song, genre, etc.) then using the arrows on your wheel pick your song and it should work.
unfortunately, it doesnt show any of this on the main screen in the center of the car for reasons unbeknownst to me.

How do you connect the iPod?
If you connect your iPod through the AUX jack at the gloves compartment, then you will NOT see anything on the display nor on the speedometer.
You will NOT be able to control the iPod from any of the buttons on the car, except the volume. You have to choose your song from the iPod itself.
Regards.

2009 C300 Sport w/ Navi
If you have a new iPod or iTouch you will not be able to use it in the W204 as the cable needs to be changed in your car to support it. I have already brought this up to my dealer as my old iPod works just fine. Funny thing is that the cable upgrade has not been released yet.

+1 for the ipod cable stinking. You have to connect it through the ipod cable, the one that plugs into the bottom of the ipod like it's charging. If you're plugging it into the headphone jack you will not be able to access songs from your steering wheel.
The quality is sub par anyway - I've gone back to mp3 cd's.

Hooking up your itouch ipod to your Mercedes
You have to have a special cable made by Mercedes in order to hook your ipod up to your car. Also, they only send you the old 30 pin plug, so be prepared with an adapter from the 30 pin plug to the 8 pin plug that your itouch ipod has. I have been frustrated to the max by my Mercedes dealer. Took them a month to get their special usb cord out to me and I didn't realize I would need an adapter to use it. I highly recommend buying your cable on ebay, as you will receive it in less than a week if you order within the US. You can also get the adapter plug there at the same time. Mercedes must be using pony express to ship their parts.
