UMI Screen Pictures
As I promised, here's some pictures from the UMI screens :
Here's the strange thing about charging the Iphone - if you plug it in before you put the key in the ignition, the Iphone will charge when you turn on the car. If you plug it in AFTER you start the car, it will not charge. I have no idea why...

It does not currently play videos, but this website claims that this feature will be available in the second development stage ( but only for the Audio 50 and COMAND APS system ) :

I thought you were getting it retrofitted to the MM pop out screen 
What exactly did the dealer have to do? Is it still the same screen that came stock with the car, and just a different operating system?

There was a thread with photos about the UMI retrofit. It does include HW (look at the glovebox) and a new centre speaker and wiring. It is supposed to use the Audio 20 display, perhaps you are confused with MM retrofit threads.

Now you guys see why I was so upset !
The install shouldn't have taken any longer than 4 hours ( actually, vic viper said he can do it now in 1.5 hours ) let alone 6 freakin' days !
The funny thing is, I received an email from MB yesterday asking me to complete a survey regarding my recent service.
Needless to say, I really let them have it
I wonder if that goes to MB corporate, or just the dealer ?
At least I'm happy with the end result, which I guess is all that matters...

If being blacklisted because of one bad review was true, then there would not be any dealers left! All dealers get at least one bad review every so often. Just some get it a lot more than others because they are terrible at what they do.

NickCats, do you now have another option call Navi under your odometer? (can be accessed by press left/right arrow on steering wheel)
If you don't, then your dealer forgot to enable the scn coding
Does anyone know if Audio 50 has the ability to display asian characters like chinese or japanese?
I know Audio 20 doesn't but MM does..wondering if it's possible to retrofit Audio 50 and still keep UMI..

Yes, now I have the navi option on my odometer as well.
I think what woedee meant is that I am now on the dealer's blacklist, which is fine by me ( I wouldn't step foot into that dealer again if they paid me ! )
Luckily, there are 9 other MB dealers in the Chicagoland area...

The original quoted price was $1700 for the unit and $400 for the installation.
The dealer matched the online wholesale price of $1350 for the unit and discounted the install $150 ( they had my car for 6 days ! ) for a grand total of $1660 ( they charged me $60 more than the original quote for some reason ). Here is some more information :

How does the traffic indicator look? My old Acura and my Blackberry show red, yellow and green lines that indicate traffic flow, does the MMI do the same thing?

Traffic works well, but only when I am on the expressway ( it does not show anything for local traffic, but I live an hour outside of Chicago ). I don't think it shows lines, just icons showing warnings for traffic and construction. You can also access the details for each incidence :

It goes to MB Corporate then circulates back to the dealer. It can be anonymous if requested.
Once the Service Manager gets it, he can choose to send it on to the service advisor if he wants.

1) How do you get to show the street names?
2) Anyway to get it closer than 0.5 miles view?
3) Is there a way to update the maps without having to go back to the dealer?
4) Can someone tell me the latest maps that are out there for this system?
